4 year old silly talk - poo/bums/willies

Oh my days, I am at the end of my tether with the toilet humour.

In particular the word willy. I know this might sound funny but he's started saying things like stinky willy and sticky willy and, the most unbearable one is taste my willies. It sounds horrendous and I think stemmed from something else he was saying 'taste my...' about, but it just sounds horrible

This morning he was acting sooooo ridiculously silly. Almost like he was delirious, going around saying stinky willies. I found out, from him, that he told a friend at preschool this phrase and they copied him.

What's the best way to handle this? Ignore it? I have discussed the word and when it is appropriate to say it but that's fallen on deaf ears! It's driving me nuts!

No advice, but I can empathise. My 4 year old takes great delight in saying poo poo, bum and other silly words. Her friends are the same. Definitely an age thing. I ask her nicely not to say silly words but it falls on deaf ears. I mainly let her get on with it and don't react and she eventually stops.

My daughter is the same. She doesn't do it all the time but once she starts she gets very silly and overexcited with it and finds it hard to calm down and stop saying the words and giggling!

My son is the same. We live in Scotland so he refers to his penis as his "boaby" which doesn't sound too bad ha. But he's obsessed with pooh. Everything is pooh or related. If we're in public and he's getting too over excited I tell him to use his inside voice because some people don't like words like that but otherwise I leave him to it to get it out his system.

My almost 4 year old does the same thing. Usually poop and puke. He gets so silly giddy saying poop! Stinky poop! Puke! Eat puke! ....ugh.

I try to tell him once not to, then ignore it...but he picks the worst times!

My almost 3 year old has just started this, but she has started her brother who is 6 off again. Walking home the older kids ( 6 year olds friends) talk about poo most of the way home. Not helped by the fact that us grown up shout poo every few minutes to warn them of dog poo on the ground. Ijust ignore them. Sometimes tell them to stop if we are out in public and they are talking loudly. They call each other poo head and wee blanket. Makes no sence to me but hey ho. They will grow out of it. They do it more when i fuss about it.

Mine do this, I try and ignore. It's very annoying but if I add it to the list of things to nag them about I feel like I would never stop nagging. Now when my 3 year old takes his willy out in the living room that's when I step in!

Thomas often says 'poo poo bum bum' or poo poo face etc. I ignore it but it does make me giggle at times!

Our 2 year old has recently started potty training and it seems to have started off a poo obsession! Our almost 4 year old is okay about poo but seems to have an obsession with her two younger brothers private bits which can lead to her saying awkward things. Personally I wouldnt tollerate calling someone else poo head and would explain it was rude and mean to call names even if others do it but I do think its an age thing and often ignoring the toilet humor is probably the best way to deal with it.

Another 4 year old here with a poo obsession. He likes making up songs about poo, or altering nursery rhymes to get poo in there. What really annoys me is that he will address people as poo, he will say 'goodbye poo!' to people that he's saying goodbye to etc.

So glad to read this! My little girl has become so silly since starting school, everything is poo, bums and willies. It drives me insane because our two year old also shouts 'willy!' Etc at the top of her lungs in shops etc now and looks at the 4 year old to make her laugh- they get so hyped up!

My 4 yr old is the same and so are most of them in his class. I tell him off for being silly. At least then he knows I don't approve and hopefully would know not to say it to anyone and everyone xx
