.

I know my OH is saving up as much as he possibly can but he has been having a lot of car troubles so it is taking a lot of money away from him. I would save up but I don't have a job and no way of getting money. I sold all my stuff that is worth money before I even knew I was pregnant so of course that is gone now. :(

Hopefully my OH gets this promotion so he gets paid more. Plus when he moves in with me he is going to sell his car and use mine which will save A LOT of money. His current car gets like 10 miles per gallon and mine takes like 30.

I am, for sure!
But it's so hard sometimes because I'm such a spending bug and love to go shopping. Ugh. But right now I have a special savings account in the bank just for LO that gets a pretty good amount of interest on it, so she has that. And then we also have something we call the "Tori Jar", which is literally a jar. Haha. My OH works about 5x a week and works for tips (he cleans and details cars) so everytime he works he throws $5 and whatever change in the Tori Jar! So that's about $25+ a week! When it gets full, we'll take it to the bank and put it in her savings account! That's what I'm doing though!

Definitely. I know I'm really lucky to get all these benefits and grants and whatnot, but I'm certainly not taking it for granted. I have about £500 of my own money put aside, as well as having all the baby stuff I really need... I've also opened a separate account for baby and any money I put in doesn't come out until she's here.

Some girls will spend the benefits they get on themselves and then sponge off their parents, but I pride myself on being independent and with the father practically out of the picture, I do really need the extra support. By the time she's born I should have over £1000 in the bank, which I'll make last until I can get back into college and start working.

Wow I guess I'm not doing as good as job as I should! My OH makes roughly $1000 a week and I'll be lucky if we have $200 by the end of each pay period!!!

Damn Cinci! I wish my OH made that much!!! Ugh! Jealous! Haha.

Hahaha Yeah except the fact that all of it goes to bills!! haha

Yes! Saving like crazy, we have about £4000 in the bank just now, it goes up by around £800 a month, we are currently saving all of OHs full-time wage, and using my part-time wage to live off! Whatever is left in my account at the end of the month gets moved into OHs :) Although right now we live seperately and dont have a car between us so we still have to spend on those before baby gets here :/ xx

OH is making like 2000-2200/ month plus i bring in 650 a month, we have 4600 saved up right now, since we decided not to move (we have a great 3brd townhouse that is all ours) we wont be spending anything for that. And with all the family help with baby stuff we shouldn't have to spend very much out of that.

we spend about 1600-1800 a month for rent/bills/food/entertainment/Taye. So we have been able to save alot.

i wish i could start saving but we are going on holiday in december but after that it will be save save save! although it does not matter to much because we can just live of OH's income well i am on mat leave and i still get paid 500 a week when on that and when i go back to work ill be on about 1000 a week and oh on 600 a week we are pretty lucky money wise... well thats if OH gets to keep his job we are a bit unsure about whats happening at the moment.

Damn, makes me feel bad that the UK is alot more generous with helping out people struggling for money. Then again the system over here fails so much. I get £51 a week from the government, it's not loads, but it's enough to get by on.

were having to save like mad, even though im only 19 we dont get any benefits my fiancee works 40 hrs a week as a graphic designer, were paying for our enw car, the house, all the bils we hve a toddler and were gettng married in June also im 21+3 so its getting expensive, i cant work a normal job as im on bedrest for most of this pregnancy well at the very least lots and lots of rest, so we save what we can. altogether were on between £300 (o/h weekly wages after tax) and what ever i earn with my hair extensions company so usually about £500 a week in total sometimes more but it all goes i think no matter what you earn you'll always be struggleing as you live to your means.

Once we've finished paying the car off it will be about 3 years then were going to keep up the monthly payments but put it into a savings account, like £75 each to the kids and to a general savings pot which is our long term plan xx

i cant save for the life of me, i have a really bad shopping habbit and am terrible for impulse buys :( my fiance earns about £2000 a month though and with gas, electric, water, council tax, mortgage and fuel he spends about £800 so hes left with a fair bit each month so im just lucky i have someone whos a bit better with money than i am lol x

some of you's have really thought this through. i'm going to be a single parent so unfortunately i only have whatever money i get. because i am under eighteen the government won't give me any benefits (like the job seekers allowance) so i have to wait till i am twenty nine weeks to get income support (seven weeks to go :() i have about £600 in my own saving account, and then i will get the two grants of £500 and £190.. so i'm going to use all that and my future income support to buy stuff.
luckily i turn eighteen in december and i'll be about seven months pregnant, thinking about asking my parents for a pram, exciting for an eighteen years old, i know. but it just means i can keep more of my own money for buying himself clothes :D

I saved like crazy while I was pregnant. I had about $1,500 saved from babysitting and random stuff and now I only have about $600 left :( there was so much stuff I've had to buy since karinna was born.

I have just over 2,000 saved up...i'm really proud of that cause before I found out I was pregnant in July...I didn't even have a penny saved up! I also only get paid minimum wage :(

I save everything I make though...like 3/4 of my paycheck goes to my savings account and 1/4 I save for gas. I don't spend money on anything else basically. I'm going to be a single parent so I need to be realistic its much harder with only one income not two!

I know what you mean. I'm in the same position as you are, except I'll have an eight month old by the time I'm eighteen and can get proper support.
Even if I was still with FOB he only gets about £30 a week from his weekend job, and I doubt he'd save a decent percentage of that for the babe...
I've really given up a lot to make sure I have enough to last me come B-Day, and it's been really hard as it means I can't even go out with friends because I don't have any money for bus fares. I get to do literally nothing, except sell some clothes and DVDs on eBay.
I'm still really proud of myself though, as this pregnancy has forced me to look at money (and life for that matter) more long-term rather than just doing things for the now - which is actually how I like to live, tbh.

aah i know how you feel about doing nothing. my friends are always wanting me to go out for lunch or dinner, or going shopping; i just have to say no i can't afford it. then it makes me feel so lonely cause i end up just being bored by myself as i can't afford to go out. luckily i have a friend with a seven month son and she's always in her house and so i spend a lot of time with her. i am just trying to save up my money so i can afford everything, even if it is the cheapest of the cheapest.. as long as it does it's job i am happy. :D

^ Yeah, I have that attitude too, the vast majority of stuff I have is second hand but I can't afford brand new, and it's just as useful.

You're lucky you have someone to hang out with, I'm going insane stuck inside all the time. Luckily, my body's dealing with pregnancy really well, so I can still walk a decent distance if I wanna see someone or do something :)
