Centiles are statistical charts which plot your LO's growth and are based on averages of other babies.
I have found this quote which may explain it better than I can:
"If a parameter such as height is on the 3rd centile, this means that for every 100 children of that age, 3% would be expected to be shorter and 97 taller. On the 97th centile, 97 would be shorter and 3 taller."
Hope that makes sense?
It doesn't mean he is overweight/underweight though. It is all relative to his height as well.
At his 8 week check, Tristan was on the 75th centile for height, weight and head circumference as well. The doctor said that was great - as this meant that he was in perfect proportion.
