hi moorebetter

I am so sorry you have been having trouble TTC it is so frustrating. I just wanted to let you know that I looked into acupuncture myself about 5 or 6 weeks ago shortly after my first mc. I am not on any meds or IVF but the material i read indicated that acupuncture stimulates the production of blood vessels and this seemed to me to be important for the uterine environment which is increasingly seen as the issue in egg quality. I have been doing acupuncture once a week ever since.

Well about 8 days ago I got my BFP. Another thing I would recommend apart from doing weights and aerobic activity regularly is diet here is a link to a site which has a book on an intestinal cleanse I am doing which is proving to be pretty fabulous.

good luck :)

Hi Girls!

I have unexplained infertility and have been TTC for over 2 years. I just started Acupuncture following a failed IVF cycle in preparation for my next IVF attempt in August. My acupuncturist said that her success rates for natural and IVF cycles are the same.... although we are still going to proceed with IVF in August.

I've had one session a week. I don't mind the needles too much - there is the occasional one that hurts a bit, but once they are all in, its really relaxing. She has only been putting about 6 needles in for 30 minutes (on my wrists, stomach, and feet) followed by extra needles for 5 seconds on my wrists and knees at the end. This seems far fewer needles than some of you are experiencing?

I haven't really noticed any difference, but then I don't know what I'm supposed to be noticing as not sure what, if anything, is wrong!

Briss: you asked about an acupuncturist in London. If I lived there, I would definitely go to Emma Cannon - she specialises in fertility. She has also written a book too (Baby Making Bible or something) and this cycle I've been following her diet, affirmations, acupressure, yoga advice. I really recommend it - easy to follow and written in a really sensitive way. (I find other fertility books tell me everything I already know - when to try, fertile CM, OPK pros and cons etc)

I'd be interested to hear other peoples experiences of acupuncture.

I've been doing acupuncture for months, I haven't got a BFP yet, but it does really relax me. I also have him work on my allergies. The place I go is excellent, and they only charge $30.00 a session.

Madeline when I read what you wrote I said AWWWW out loud haha Thanks for the info!! I have been going every week, I love it. She does community sessions which are on a sliding scale so you can pay between $20-$60 no judgement! Its awesome! I think Im out this month, but im only 11dop, but Im already looking forward to next month!

aintlifegrand sorry to hear you have some troubles.. ttc sucks a big one. Im glad to hear acupunture relaxes you also! gl!!!! please keep us updated!

What is involved in a mild IVF?

What is involved in a mild IVF?

We are indeed! Let's get to the other side with the help of acupuncture!

Mild IVF doesn't involve down regging, so I start stim injections after AF on day 2 and I think the daily dosages are lower. So it doesn't take as long, involves less drugs, but don't usually retrieve as many eggs.

I really only started acupuncture in preparation for IVC w/ ICSI in August, but there is always that silent hope that it helps before then!!

Hi I just saw this as clicked on this forum accidentally. When I was ttc I had a short lp and eventually did acupuncture. It lengthened lp by a couple of days, and in conceived 3 months later (I had been trying 16 months overall though had a previous m/c). The cycle I conceived, the lady said she was stimulating ovulation, and I actually ovulated two eggs and both were fertilized, though sadly only one was viable (one empty sack at 12 week scan). They do say if it's going to work it will be within first 6 months. Oh and she gave me a herbal prescription too.

I loved it because she asked me questions about the everything and looked at my health and body as a whole, not like western med who just look at one thing at a time iykwim.

Good luck hun really hope you get your bfp xx

heres a break down of my day yesterday

I went yesterday and visited with an acupuncturist who also is trained in herbs. (I have a wonderful acupuncturist, but she only deals acupuncture) He has his masters and has also studied in China.

When I got there, he asked me a ton of questions and took my pulse and looked at my tongue. He studied what I said about my trying to get pregnant and not having any luck. He also went over all of my medical records I brought with me as well as lab work.

He said my pulse was very different, he doesn’t see many like mine. He concluded that in my pulse, my liver should be dominant and the spleen should be there in a sense but not overactive. In my case, my spleen is super dominant over my liver and that the two are “fighting for power” (that’s what I understood hahaha)

He prescribed 3 different herbs :

Gui Pi Wan – on days 1-15 of my cycle. He said that this should help with my blood flow and qi. Will help to calm the spleen back to where it should be. (he also suggested a baby aspirin- I will be asking my doctor if this is alright)

Xiao Yao Wan- on days 16-30 of my cycle. He said that this helps to get my qi and yang phase regulated. This also helps to regulate the liver. As well as relieves stress.

You Gui Wan- helps to warm the body. I told him I have always been a cold natured person. Also helps with kidney yang nourishes jing in the blood.

I should take 4 pills – 3x a day.

I’m hoping this will help, have you heard anything or ever dealt with these yourself? Any information would be awesome! I love to research and find out a lot about things, I’m excited to see what happens with my body.

Hi Ladies:
