...food poisoning?!

i made cakes with DS yesterday and we ate some of the raw batter and a few cakes afterwards.

go to make a fried egg this morning and realise the eggs are out of date by 10 days

i hate being sick, im so scared were going to get food poisoning!

whats the usual time for food poisoning to start?!

with eggs it would be pretty quick.

If the eggs didn't smell I am sure you will be fine x

no they didnt smell - and the cakes tasted good lol

its been 24 hours so hopefully we wont get it x

you shouldn't if its over 24 hours

You would know if you had "bad" eggs straight away. They have to put the best before on there because it is when they are at their best and then after that they aren't as "good"

You will be fine. I always eat the batter it is the best part.. I agree if the eggs didn't smell it is most likely everything will be ok.. Can you send me a cake or two, i am not far, i am in New York

I always use 'off' eggs and never had a problem. If they're bad you'll know right away by the look of them.

I think it would.be unlikely to get it now with the time that has passed, It's possible you would of got stomache pains too if they were 'bad' eggs so i woulsnt worry, the best before date is only a guideline really anyway to cover the manuactures arse's.

You'd definitely know a bad egg as soon as you cracked it. They stink!!

I always use eggs past the date. If I'm unsure I stick them in a bowl of water. If they sink then they should be fine as the shell hasn't become porous! x

Well im still alive lol thanks guys i dont usually worry about dates but 10 days is quite a while lol x

If it sinks it's safe, if it floats it fails. I test every egg I use as ours come from OHs own hens so no dates on them xx
