Um the Obamacare is ultimately a tax. So under Obama's plan he wants to raise taxes.
Healthcare should be left up to the individual states. What works for one state doesn't work for another...that is why having a federal program doesn't work. Plus the plan is so expensive that the likelyhood of going bankrupt is real. Also we are already starting to see doctors not accept Medicaid paitients because the government does not pay out enough to cover the overhead costs (the building, nurses, malpractice insurance which is exxtremely expensive)

I have heard of a lot of Canadians coming to the US to get care because it takes so long to get into see a specialist??? But I don't know. So does it really take that long to see a specialist if it isn't life threatening? Is there a doctor shortage there? Also I have heard from some that the Canadian healthcare is almost broke...not sure on that though as I don't have any proof or anything. Just a question.

I don't think the rich should be penalized for being rich. I also don't think we should have to pay for people who abuse the system. Its so nuts that people who really need the help can't get it but those that really don't need it do. We definitely need to come up with a solution to fix this. I have seen a few women who get pregnant so they don't have to go back to work and stay on Welfare longer. Makes me sick.
Canadians who have money do so
sometimes go to other countries to get care, because the Conservatives have been systematically hacking our healthcare system into a 'rich-only, all others pray to your god' sytem. You're right, it would work MUCH better if we had a smarter system like the UK. Obamacare is paid for by a small tax, yes, to cover basics for all.

I don't think anyone likes seeing people abuse the system but i'd rather vote for a party who will put auditing in place to catch these people rather than only offer care only to the uber wealthy. When you can't get healthcare in 10 years and die of breast cancer your children will be angry that there wasn't better coverage. My bil just went through aggressive cancer treatment in Vancouver all paid for by our government (thank goodness we haven't arrived at a system where a Republican-like person gets to decide if he was/was not worthy of his medical care).
So many wealthy people see the faults with the tea baggers/tepublican logic. Are you saying that they feel punished by paying a little bit of tax? Ask Bill Maher and you'll get quite an articulate answer.

Obama will provide a better education for american youth! He will get in.

Heck, the amount of work Michelle Obama has done! What a cool lady!

*searches for mini Republicans in her reproductive organs*

Haha Republicans are getting no where NEAR my vagina, doctor or otherwise:)

So true. Unless you're raped and then they'll want to do all sorts of internal probes to see if you deserved it or if it was just 'His' immaculate plan for you. When women support this kind of craziness it's reminds me of those horrific Nazi movies experimenting with medicine on humans. Brainwashing of people who are generally good natured.

Private organizations (churches, other social programs like Salvation Army) can help out those that truly need it. They are better at screening people and making sure people are only getting what they need and not scamming the system to pay for big screen tvs and game systems (and designer clothes/ jewelry/ cars/ etc.). Build shelters for multiple families where those that can't afford their own housing go to live (there is no reason for private housing). Provide soup kitchens and food banks to give out staples that people need to eat, so they don't trade their card benefits for cigarettes/ booze/ other things. People would never go truly without in the country even if there were no welfare system (I don't consider SS a welfare system if you've paid into it for years before you draw it either). The local church near me packs bag lunches and passes them out to the homeless. I try to give them a check at least every couple of weeks because 1) I feel the people aren't going to scam for a bag lunch as much as cash (especially when someone is going out and handing it directly to them on the street) and 2) they truly do need it and aren't being helped at all by our current government "social programs".

You are so full of shit, I just can't even. You can't buy cigarettes with food stamps, churches and the Salvation Army don't have the funding or the resources to help everyone in need, and you have NO idea what civilian life is really like. My husband was in the military when we got married, and when my daughter was born. TriCare is nothing like socialised health care for one; I went Standard too and the benefits still cost FAR less than civilian health insurance. You think $350 a month isn't much?! That shows just how far removed from reality you really are. When his service ended, my husband was out of work for months because there is no work. A year ago, we separated, and I'm back in with my parents. I left with no money, and my folks live in a rural area. I can't afford a car, so there's no way to get to work and all the jobs available around here have dozens of people competing. I don't smoke, I don't drink, and I worked my ass off and paid taxes for over a decade up until now. I have a part-time job, but I only work a couple of days a week- and I still pay taxes, albeit low. My husband is working full time and only making twenty-something grand a year; he can't afford to move out of his parents' house either, and he forgoes health insurance because the cost is out of reach. He served our country, and I'm an educated, responsible adult who got stuck in a shit situation.

And you'd have us living in a shelter with no electricity, going to Salvation Army for a bag lunch. I hope you know you're a misanthrope, and that you/your OH never leaves the military because you might get slapped down to reality right quick returning to civilian life.

Taxes paid by highest incomes

The top 1% pay 22.7% of taxes.
The top 10% pay 50% of taxes.
The top 20% pay 65.3% of taxes.
The top 40% pay 84.3% of taxes.

Taxes paid by lowest incomes

The bottom 20% pay 1.1% of taxes.
The bottom 40% pay 6.1% of taxes.

It looks like the rich pay ALOT to me!

'pregnancies caused by rape were something god intended to happen' therefore you don't have to right to an abortion.
-Indiana Republican senator Richard Murdoch

I live in Indiana. He's a fucking idiot. :dohh:

Todd Akin (Republican) said you can't get pregnant from legitimate rape. :dohh:

:saywhat: :dohh:

Because your reproductive organs know the difference between rape and consensual sex. Didn't you learn anything in health class???

I did find that on a Repuplican but if you read: https://www.cbo.gov/publication/43373 you have to download the reports but it does show how much the rich really do pay. Obama is using this as his campaign. I wonder why do you really care if you live in Canada and it doesn't really affect you?

Lol he stated that in a "legitimate rape" situation a woman can't get pregnant because the body has a way to "shut that whole thing down". Asshole.
