'pregnancies caused by rape were something god intended to happen' therefore you don't have to right to an abortion.

I live in Indiana. He's a fucking idiot. :dohh:

Todd Akin (Republican) said you can't get pregnant from legitimate rape. :dohh:

:saywhat: :dohh:

Because your reproductive organs know the difference between rape and consensual sex. Didn't you learn anything in health class???

Lol he stated the in a "legitimate rape" situation a woman can't get pregnant because the body has a way to "shut that whole thing down". Asshole.

Yep, he's a dipshit!

The whole world knows more about us politics than most us citizens.

I wonder why do you really care if you live in Canada and it doesn't really affect you?

You're so naive if you think another horrid Republican leader Bush style won't effect every other country in the world. :nope:

Our government has used Bush style trickery to cheat, the Conservatives here were caught sending voters to the wrong polling stations and calling people a day before the election with bogus info. The less of these cheaters & greedy thieves we have in the world the better we all are. We also know your education system need really a lot of help. When this happens, American's will be able to travel around with a little less negative reaction from foreigners. I'm assuming it's from a general lack of education but maybe others would have a better idea. And it's a generalization. We know lots of lovely well behaved Americans, some are family. There's a certain arrogant attitude that we don't want to be associated with. Why do you think the Canadians carry a small Canadian symbol on their backpacks to identify themselves?

I already bashed Bush  Come on now, does anyone actually believe he was a good leader?

Well I guess its a good thing I live here and can vote then :) Obviously your way left and I don't want to really argue and make this thread into a bashing one.

One doesn't have to be "way left" to recognize everything that went wrong. Even your current candidate separates himself from Bush's policies.

I don't think he was good either but at the time it was voting for the lesser of the two evils. That seems to be the way politics are now a days. I don't necessarily agree with everything Romney does but I believe that he will do better than Obama will in another term.

Obama is ahead in the electoral votes anyway.

(Not trying to sound like a bitch but..)

Can you honestly tell me what you think Romney is going to do that's good? (Personal opinion, won't attack you for your opinion, either)

Well the first and major one is get rid of Obamacare. This is my biggest thing since I'm chronically ill, it affects me the most. I believe it's unconstitutional to require everyone to have health insurance. I like the idea of smaller government and to cut spending. All I have seen from Obama is more debt and more government involvement.

How does religion still have any place in politics? Insane.

Since you're chronically ill, what if your insurance company drops you because you're costing too much and you can't get picked up on another insurance company because of pre-existing conditions? What if insurance companies decide to charge you thousands more because you're chronically ill? What happens if my niece happens to lose her insurance and can't get on another plan because of her JRA - it would be considered a pre-existing condition and she wouldn't be covered. With Obamacare 180 million (or something like that, can't remember the exact number) will get insurance and not be unfairly charged or capped, including people with a pre-existing condition.

Romney is going to cut spending by cutting funding for schools, teachers and big bird. Then he's going to give 2 trillion more dollars to the military. Where is this extra 2 trillion dollars going to come from?

He's going to put us in the same position as Bush did before Obama took office and started straightening things out.

It doesn't, unless you're Republican. :winkwink:

Ryan and Biden were asked about how their faith affects their stance on abortion. Ryan said he couldn't separate the two. Biden said that pretty much he has his beliefs but he wouldn't push those beliefs on women, pretty much.

Well whats going to happen when there is a shortage of doctors so it won't matter if I have insurance or not? What happens when the government tells me I've lived a good life and you no longer get health insurance because we don't have the money for it? What happens when the healthcare plan goes bankrupt? What happens if I can't get into see a specialist and die anyways?

With the military yes we need to put more money into it after all the cuts Obama has done. Right now we are so vulenrable as Americans because of the condition of the military. I could care less if Big Bird gets cut either. The make enough money off of their dvd and tickle me elmos that they don't need the federal government to sponsor it.

How can Romney balance the budget with an across the board tax cut that raises the deficit by 5 trillion dollars and raise the pentagon's budget by 2 additional trillion dollars? How can you offset that?

Must have missed that class :haha:

I doubt there will be a doctor shortage. As it is, there aren't enough jobs in the USA. There isn't a doctor shortage in the UK

I was under the impression that in the UK, healthcare is free for everyone - including those that are not citizens. MY best friend is from Liverpool and was telling me that it was a shame British cititzens were footing the bill for people who would go there to take advantage of the system and get free healthcare. Are they meant to verify your identity and simply don't, or does the government really budget to give it to the whole world for free?

Canada and Australia's system are almost identical and I think they seem the best so far. You have to show your health card in order to get the free service. There have been times in Canada where Im a citizen that I've forgotten my healthcard, in which case you can always call them back later with the number or bring it another time. I got pregnant in Australia though, so I had to pay for the first initial prenatal visits because I have no status there. I think that makes sense and it works.

I've not read on from this but thought I would reply. It is not true, but it is a misconception that many believe because that is how the media portray it.

If you were in the UK and needed emergency treatement then it would be done, but that is as far as it goes. I know a nurse who has had to make a child comfortable only because the childs government are deciding whether to pay the treatement or not.

I just have to say, I think there are two " main" parties for a reason ( obviously there are others as well). Voting Democrat or Republican doesn't make you a bad person, and a lot of people have died and sacrificed so that we can even have that choice.

It's discouraging that I can't read through a thread like this without all the negative and condescending language. Sure, it's one thing to say "I'm frustrated" or " I don't like that"... but I shouldn't feel like I'm going to be burned at the stake if I say I want to vote for Romney. And, I'm not a bad person if I want Romney in office just like "you're" not a bad person if you want Obama in office. That's your opinion and your right as an American to vote that way. Life would be boring if we all had the same exact opinions and ideas.
