Hi

I am recently diagnosed with PCOS and thinking of taking Angus castus until I get referred to a fertility specialist in June. I have ovulated sporadically before but haven't had a proper period since December. Just spotting. I'm currently on CD16 and no sign of O despite taking soy iso this month. I have some medication to make me have a proper bleed this month but it won't kick start my cycle so I'm going to take it CD25-30 if I haven't ovulated by then.
In the mean time, a few questions about Angus castus

1) what dosage should I take
2) what days should I take it
3) can you take it at the same time as soy isoflavones?

I was diagnosed with PCOS approximately two years ago and was taking BCP to balance the hormones. DH and I are now TTC so I stopped BCP on March 30, and started taking Femaprin once a day in the morning. It's a combination of Vitex (agnus castus) and vitamin B6, and I can't even tell you how many success stories I've read on forums and reviews. I'm on week 3 now and I'm already seeing some benefits. It takes 3 months to really work so hopefully this summer I'll be getting my BFP!

So you're just taking it every day?
I have some Angus castus already 100mg just not sure how much to take and how long for. Taking b6 as part of multivitamins as wel

I take one capsule everyday. It contains 225 mg Vitex agnus castus extract and 100 mg vitex agnus castus (fruit), so I would up your dosage. I've read in other forums that you should give your body a break after 6 months, but I believe that's more of a personal decision.

You don't want to take soy and vitex at the same time. I don't think even during the same cycle.

This baby is a vitex baby. I was on 1600mg/day (it's standard for PCOS to take 1400-2000mg/day) in the am at least 30mins before food. I started it something like cd50 when I hadn't ovulated yet. It made me ovulate and brought on AF. Next cycle it made me ovulate cd20 and I conceived. I continued it through the first trimester and started weaning at 12 weeks until I was completely off at 15 weeks. Never had a problem. Had my progesterone tested at my 8 week OB appointment and it was within normal ranges, but low. So I hate to think what would have happened if I'd stopped taking it.

You also want to take it throughout your cycle. It works by regulating your hormones and takes time to build up. So by starting and stopping at certain points in your cycle you're essentially undoing all the work it's done while you were on it and starting over again when you take it next. It isn't a quick fix. It CAN take 3 months to start working. It worked pretty quick for me, but it doesn't always.

I was on b6 as well as a lot of PCOS ladies are deficient. You can take vitex for 18 months straight, but after that you should take a break before starting again.

So in your opinion I should leave it for this cycle, see if I O before cd25. If not induce a bleed and then start vitex?

I would, yes. I'm not sure why you're not supposed to take them still the same time. They might cancel each other out and that's why. But I'm not totally sure. I just know they're not supposed to be taken together as I was going to, but when I was researching it said not to.

Ok cool, looks like I'll be starting it soon :(
