Hello lovely ladies, been to hospital to see specialist today as i want a home birth but as i have a bmi of 40 they recomend against it. The whole morning was a complete trauma that had me in tears when i got home. They said certain risks were increased due to my high bmi but the risks were very rare but the specialist kept repeating i should go to hospial. After my experience today i never want to set foot in a hospital again. Are there any overweight ladies who have had succesful home births or does anyone no where i could get info on this as the specialist just left me feeling upset and confused. My 1st daughter was born at home with no problems but i was thinner then, i just struggled to lose weight after she was born.

i have a BMI of 34 and i have told them I AM having a home birth nobody can make you go to hospital and if u reaserch the so called complication they speak of you will find these complications can actually happen to anyone any size (just SLIGHTLY increased for us bigger ladies) next time you speak to them go armed with as much of your own pro homebirth reaserch as you can and you will find they will probably back off a little xx
