Any vegetarians putting meat back on the menu?

I don't know why people get annoyed about others' eating habits and want to label them. Honestly, fish no meat, meat no fish, veggie only, no veggies at all WHO CARES! Whatever we eat or don't eat we can call ourselves what we want - it really isn't important.

Do you know what? It actually IS important to some of us. Veganism for ethical reasons is as important as religion is to the religious. It is not simply about 'choice': tea or coffee?/brown sauce or ketchup? etc. It is about respect for life...all life! This includes sentient beings who live, suffer and die for people's tastebuds. If people on here could really understand this they would no more ridicule and trash my beliefs than they would if I was religious and talking about those beliefs. Throwing abuse at people because of their philosophical beliefs is as bad as racism, and if anyone doubts that, note that veganism will soon be protected by law in the same way that racism is. I don't imagine any of you would try to shout down a devout Muslim or Catholic for discussing their beliefs so please show true animal lovers the same respect. Some of your comments are offensive and upsetting.

But you are acting like vegetarians are the only ones who respect life, "truly care" for animals, or think about where their food comes from and the importance of what they eat. I have no problem with people who make the choice to be vegetarian (because it is a choice, just like religion is) but I do have a problem with them being self righteous and acting like the rest of us horrible, dirty omnivores who have no ethics. Just because people disagree with you doesn't make them disrespectful, things like dietary choices and religion are things that people are allowed to discuss and challenge ideas they don't agree with.

Missy, I understand where you are coming from (my husband is a veggie, half my friends is veggie, the other vegan), but I think you are overreacting. Sure there were a couple of people who poked fun at vegetarianism, but for the most part this thread has been very respectful of life style choices/believes. And, to use the metaphor of religion, you are being a little too preachy and judgmental of other people's choices/believes ("munching corpse"), which is no better than what you are accusing others of.

^^ Totally agree with u Oread...

Missy if u wish 4 people not to disrespect u or ur views etc then u need to not disrespect every 1 else for theirs!

Sarcasm is not the best way to go about things either, this thread has gone so off topic and has caused unecessary arguements really. Personal choice is personal choice no matter wat way u chose to put it into practice.

Like I said, you don't understand my beliefs. I don't see it as a 'dietary choice'. I don't believe we have the right to take life just to put on our plates. No way am I going to get into some debate about 'why we are natural meat eaters' which someone will no doubt wish to bring up. I am just asking that people recognise the strength of feeling amongst vegans and have respect for that.

This isn't a debate about beliefs though, well, I certainly don't think it was intended to be by the OP.

No offence, but I doubt anybody on here is actually that 'bothered' about your beliefs as it doesn't affect anyone else, but you appear to be getting yourself wound up about it and making some very presumptuous remarks about non-vegetarians/vegans and what they will and will not do/feel/say/think.

Fair enough if you feel passionately about it but not relevant to the OP.

I don't see what you are getting upset about. Like minkymoo said, no one is questioning your believes nor trying to belittle them.

You're right. No-one is bothered and I am getting wound up with being slated for having a conscience. I'll quit posting on this thread now as it's quite upsetting.

Now that is offensive hun.

No-one is bothered whether you choose to eat meat or not but you should respect the opposite view, no? Nobody has disrespected your choice as such.

Perhaps if you open your mind and accept that some other people don't share your beliefs then you wouldn't be upsetting yourself.

Even in ur last post ur gave a little dig about having a conscience,no one apart from u is being rude or offensive, shame manners aren't in ur beliefs

omg! how is that offensive?

ur r entitled to believe in wat eva u want to believe in FACT! but ur not entitled to slate every 1 else for theirs. I will still state that i am a vegetarian even though i eat 1 type of fish only. i do respect ur beliefs and well done to sticking to wat u believe in, but give the rest of us a break, ultimately these arguements will make no difference.

You seriously don't see that insinuating that non-veggies have no consience is offensive???? You are blinkered.

I'm not the blinkered one though am I? But I am off this thread for good now. I don't do harrassment!

Can we just lock this already? This is sooo off topic and is serving no good to anyone! People have the right to disagree and their opinions but this is not at all what the poster was asking for. Not to mention....if anyone can read her post says "I am a semi vegetarian" nevers says full veggie or strict vegetarian.

Oh come on, it's food. We are lucky we are allowed to have these choices. We are lucky we can pick and choose what food we eat. Some people are thankful for any meal.

I am forced to cut out meat from my diet, it makes me very ill. I miss bacon. I am a reluctant meat eating reluctant veggie. Go figure :p

I've actually gone right off bacon, not quite sure what that's all about. I have replaced bacon sandwiches for vast amounts of satsumas. WTH is that about??? Far too healthy.
