anybody else not do the whole 'santa' thing? *dilema pg3*

thanks for everybodys replys! im still trying to figure out what i should do but your replies have all been helpful!

My OH and I let Santa provide the stocking, we get the main gifts.

ok so i spoke to my very good friend who is a christian and has raised her 3 children in that way...

she called me a prude :dohh: those were the last words i expected out of her mouth but she said them..

basically she said that she raised her girls to know that santa isnt real but its fun to hear stores about him and its ok that other people believe in him and that theyre not to spoil it for those that do believe.

actually i didnt ring her about santa i rang her to ask about halloween :dohh: the kids nursery are having a fancy dress party and as we're christian we dont do halloween either so was wondering what i should do.. she told me i should send them in something fun (not evil/scary) and leave them to have fun.

basically she said that i need to let my kids have fun.. the time will come for me to explain these things to them but atm they are too young to know the difference.

ok.. just been to see my inlaws with the kids and now i have a dilema!!!

my MIL has booked a special treat for everybody (15 of us) to go on a steam train December 20th to see the welsh valleys in winter... included in the package is christmas dinner and a visit from.. you guessed it... SANTA!

:dohh:

going to speak to OH when he gets home.. i know he grew up with santa but he agreed with me that we wouldnt do it. *sigh* dunno what to do now!

I dont think that if you went it would change your views your los will see Santa everywhere growing up on TV, on cards, shops etc so i dont think that them seeing him on a train would jepodise (spl) you not wanting to do Santa

Ps wheres the train we live close to North Wales is it Llandudno?

We will be doing Christmas in the same way I did when I was little. I am a Christian (my Grandad was vicar for over 50 years!!) and so are my family. We go to midnight mass and my mum always goes on xmas day with my uncle, auntie etc and my niece has never been forced to go, but always chooses to. My DF is not religious at all.

We always have Father Christmas, even now (mum does ours and we all do one for our partners), but these are not our main presents, they are bits and bobs and I think when we were little we had £50 on stocking which was left at the bottom of the bed, and £50 on a main present from mum :)
