anyone about to start weaning and fancy teaming up?

Hi everyone

Matthew is 26 weeks today (19 corrected as 7 weeks prem) and have an app on Mon with paediatrician specialist to chck his progress, last time at 3 months he said his weigh was not great but ok, he is now about 13lb but steadily gaining along the 9th centile to HV/GP happy with this. I tied weaning a few weeks ago but he was not ready but im sure the specialist will no doubt thnk he'll be ready to start next few weeks.

Was wondering if anyone else thinking its time to begin who migh fancy doing t together for support and sharing ideas etc?

Also Matthew enjoyed baby rice and liked the teeniest bit of banana before but im rather clueless as to what to do. Baby Led Weaning sounds amazing but as Matthew is prem he is still a bit small, reluctant to grab things altough he can and so far does not sit unaided so prob not an option for us. Any advice on where to start etc would be really great. TIA X

If you're interested in blw'ing come and join the support thread at the top - it's fine to do purees first if you want to, it can be different with premature babies, it sounds like he's doing so well! Elliot couldn't sit unaided when he started, I put some tea towels at the sides of his chair to help him sit. What's important is that they can lean forwards to help them get rid of food if they need to. They won't start eating solids themselves til they're ready physically

thanks Elm ill give it a read, he can it in his bumbo with a tea towel down one side to stop him drooping left all the time, far too small for his high chair yet think he might fall thru it x

Awww he's gorgeous! I'm picturing him in his bumbo! See what the specialist recommends, I know it can be different for premature babies. You could combine purees and blw'ing if that's what works for you both x
