Is anybody else doing their own food for their wedding reception to help keep costs down?

I've ordered the bulk of mine from M&S but just need to "top up" with a few extra bits, been to the wholesalers today with my mum for a look to tot up how much the rest is going to cost

We dorder our food for the reception from Marks too, their food is great, we even got one of our wedding cakes from there too

We are buying all our food and OHs mum and some of her friends are doing the catering, she thrives for this sort of thing!

xXx

I wanted to do our own food that way we could do things to everyones tastes but the place we are holding the evening reception doesn't allow outside caterers or at least thats what I'm thinking anyways  x

We did our at our wedding!! it was the best loads of friends helped out!! i found it to be the best!!! it was amazing! xxx

OH's aunt is doing our food for us as she's a professional caterer! I think it'll be good as she knows what kind of quantities to make etc :)

I just wanted to find a happy medium really, since we arent having a sit down do, i wanted "nice" food, but nothing too posh, so by having a mix it should pan out ok. Plus you can pick exactley what you want, unlike those damn set menu's :hissy:

yeh...were planning on a beach wedding...and we dont really want the sit down meal... we figured a bbq was more our style...and goes well with the beach theme...so aussie :haha:

are you guys making meals or just buffets?

Il be interested in your ideas for this we are toying with the idea of a hogroast which is going to cost £600-£700 for £70 odd guests do you have a rough price
