I think I have to have to most stubborn little boy I have ever seen! It started at the beginning of summer, he went from listening pretty good for a toddler to having all out mind blowing tantrums. He is 2 1/2 going on 30! He likes to have control and I am sure that is why he is having some many tantrums. But by the end of the day I am spent. I refuse to give into his tantrum ways, as I don't want to have him walk all over me when he is old. But man oh man is it exhausting. Just wondering if there are any mom's out there that have been through these tough times and if you have any advise. Thanks.

my eldest (4 now) was a nightmare between 2 and 4! still has major meltdowns now sometimes.

my biggest tip is dont give in at all. not even once. anyone who looks after your ds needs to do exactly the same as you so he learns that these tantrums dont work an anyone otherwise it will never end coz say he gets away what he wants with his dad or grandma then he will push you even harder coz he will think "oh well they let me do it so mummy will if i keep going longer and louder"

its so so hard but the best bit of advise my mum gave me (nursery nurse for 30+ years and works with special needs children and severly disabled children too) is that if they are crying they are breathing. sometime you have to put them somewhere safe to give yourself even 2 mins to have a glass of water and a cry. :hugs:

oh and try your best to ignore the tantrums and reward the good behaviour!

billy2 tx for that tip, my lo is almost 15 months and starting to become so stubborn, dont hate me for typing this but he has been whining for almost an hour straight in his cot refusing to nap! He has been up since 6am and its 2:30pm even though he did sleep perhaps an hour, I *need* him to do a 2 hour nap or he is SYCH a grump :(
Im dreading going in now but i honestly cannot carry on like this :(

You have made me feel a zillion times better :) and you're a singler mom too - supermummy! (by too I meant on top of it all not 'as well' I have a dh but he works always late and is now in the US for 2 weeks sleeping in a hotel and watching movies all day grrrrrrr "business trip")
