Anyone experienced with Climbing Plants?

Hey! I'm probably filling up the General Chatter section, I'm sorry!

I want to put some trellis on the front of my home with a climbing plant, but my old house already had one when I moved in, so I've no idea how!

Any tips from experienced people with which plants to buy, how to fit them.. how long they take to grow? What's the quickest way I can get it done?

I don't know lots about plants but just wanted to say, my sil and bil had mice in their loft, they got someone out to help get rid of them and he said the climbing plants going up the side of their house was giving the mice a ladder to get in. He said climbing plants are notorious for helping bug and rodent infestation.
