I read that you're not supposed to get stretchmarks until month 6 or 7, so I hadn't even been looking for them yet. But two weeks ago underneath my breast hurt and itched really bad, I checked and sure enough, I have a long red stretch mark! Then last week my left hip/upper thigh got a stretchmark so bad it actually bled. I went to the store right away to get some tummy butter, but more are still appearing on my hips and bottom. Nothing on my tummy yet, but it's starting to itch.

I'm 18 weeks along and I've only gained 5 pounds my whole pregnancy. I've kept track of measurements and my upper thigh / hips are only one inch bigger than they were pre-pregnancy. I'm so scared I'm just going to burst all over when I actually get to the 3rd trimester.

Do I need stronger cream, or need to drink more water? Anyone else have stretchmarks yet?

I'm not too worried about SM, I guess it's all part and parcel of pregnancy for some of us...And they will fade a lot after the birth...I have a few coming up on my hips which reach over to my stomach, only white though - not red.

What kind of creams do you use?

I'm trying Palmer's Coco butter stretch mark fader/preventer lotion, and their tummy butter cream/goop. It helps a little, the skin feels softer but the marks are still red. What do you ladies use?

And yeah I knew I'd get marks, I have some already from teenage growth spurts so I didn't think it'd bother me. But I was under the impression my marks would be white like my old ones, didn't expect to see red ones, even ones that bleed. And I didn't think I'd see them til the end of my pregnancy either, so I was caught offguard! It makes me kinda sad

I Haven't had any stretch mark yet (still on week 15) and i've been really cautious about stretch mark.

I heard you need to consume plenty of vitamin C as it helps with the skin stretching and give the skin nutrition. Fruits such as kiwis, oranges are rich of vitamin C.

My mom used to rub some natural aromatheraphy oil with olive oil on her skin when she was pregnant and it works, I'm using em too! It's always better to use the oils even before you can see any stretchmark like when you're on the third month. Make sure you use the right oil, and not the ones that can harm you or the baby, you need to consult a specialist for the oils.

Yes and definitely drink plenty of water it's good for hydrating the skin, and exercise such as swimming, walking, small jogs, may ease your blood circulation which is also good for the skin and baby!

And if after all the stretchmark are still there, just remember that it's normal and most of us pregnant woman will eventually have it.
Don't worry and stay healthy for you baby! :)

I haven't had any pregnancy stretchmark come along yet, i use virgin coconut oil( u can get it from any grocery store of health food place) on my skin.
my regimen is
apply coconut oil all over body after washing up in shower
lightly rinse
pat dry

it's been doing this trick for me bc i know my skin is prone to stretch marks (i have pre pregnanacy ones on my lovehandles and hip area - hip areas have gone away now due to coconut oil) so i think it really is helping/working.
although they say nothing can prevent stretch marks. it's genetic. so if you do get really bad ones i would try mederma's stretch mark cream. it works good for scars so it has to work for stretchies too right? hehe.
i'm just waiting for my first stretch mark to come tho...maybe i'll get lucky hehe.

Hey hunni, all the stuff about not getting stretch marks till month 6/7 is absolute rubbish lol. I started getting stretch marks at about 16 weeks, and now i have them over my belly and my hips. There red, but not sore or bleeding.
I will say that everyone is different and there is nothing at all that will stop stretch marks completely! You will either get them or you wont, it's what you do to help keep them not looking as firery that matters!
Some people will go there whole pregnancy not getting a single one and others will get loads. It all depends on the individual person.
Honestly don't worry about it tho, they will fade after the pregnancy! :) xxx

just sat this thought id comment! im the same, i started to get stretch marks when i was about 16 weeks, its just your skin stretching, so 6-7 months is rubbsih. and using all the creams u can buy wont make a difference either, it will help to make them not as noticable, but its the elasticity of your skin, if your skins very elastic you wont get them, but if not you will, and you cant change your skin unfortunatly :nope: so if your going to get them, your going to them im afraid, no way of stopping them!
but i wouldnt worry about it too much hun they fade alot after you have LO! :flower:

As the others said they will fade. All stretch marks start out as red and then fade to white/silvery with time. I haven't got any yet but there is plenty of time. I have used bio oil on my stomach since i found out i was pregnant and even if it does nothing to prevent them it makes my skin feel lovely. Both my sister and sil had strech marks from teen years but got none during pregnancy so it isn't a forgone conclusion, and just because you have one or two it doesn't mean they will continue to come at a rate of knots, you may have just been through a growth spurt. Try to relax in the knowledge they will fade. x

I think the only thing you can do to try to help with the stretch marks is to keep your skin supple by moisturising after every shower or bath and keeping yourself hydrated. The thing is that if you're genetically determined to get them you will. My mother has loads so it's pretty much a given that I will too. I haven't got any yet but I'm only at 15 weeks. There's plenty of time. I really don't want them as I hate the ones I have on my bum and upper thighs from adolescence.

No amount of moisturising will stop stretch marks appearing but it can help to stop itching and any soreness. And unfortunatley no cream will get rid of them either.

Lol am 27 weeks i used Moisturizer. but changed and put johnson baby oil on 3-5 times a day has helped me i still have strech marks but it dose not itch and it has helped with my strech marks :P

I'm afraid it all has bugger all to do with how much you moisturise and is down to your genes! Don't get me wrong I'm moisturising every day but if there gonna come they will come. Fortunately lots of people say that even the angry ones fade after you give birth!

Yep I'm 25 weeks and I have maybe 4! Lol I dread to think what il look like full term!

Omg im so scared to get stretch marks.. I've gained about 15lbs now and stil have a very slim frame. I had some stretch marks on my butt and upper thighs from before, but i dont mind those i just dont want any on my tum x

i have stretch marks i look like ive been in a fight with wolverine lol!!!! creams dont work either!!! booooo

I heard Olive oil is good to "try" to prevent them. But if its in your gene's, you're gonna get them. :dohh:

My mom has a few in her pubic hair line, but she was 95 lbs when she got pregnant and delivered early with 2 of my siblings. She delivered at 7mos but they were 4 pounds alaready at that time.

I was 6 lbs 5 oz and I was her biggest baby. So it could be that she just didnt have big enough babies to give her stretch marks.

Im sure I'll find out! lol

I don't think you can really do much to stop them. I haven't done anything other than my usual showers and baths, no moisturisers or anything like that. So far I have none but I know they can appear at any stage, everybodys different. Think I'll have some in the next few weeks. Don't think my stomach can expand anymore and not have the marks to show it :)

oh i hope you are not in too much pain hun. i have been using body butter by bodyshop. coz that is the only cream where i feel not dry. then before i shower i always put bathoil (it looks like baby oil) on me first. that keeps the skin moisturized. i also use pure coconutoil (the one you can use for cooking) before going to bed. i have no stretch marks yet, but i can feel the upper part of my tummy stretching. just try a lot of fatty lotion, i hope it will get better.

i have stretch marks i look like ive been in a fight with wolverine lol!!!! creams dont work either!!! booooo

thats hilarious way of describing them lol. i cant see any yet but then i cant see under my bump lol. i got some on my son but they soon faded and tbh i couldnt give a crap about them, im 36 and a size 12uk and i wont be wearing a bikini after:haha:
