I have just posted this in the first trimester forum as that's where I am atm however hoping someone here might be able to help....

My pregnancy is low risk and is being midwife led however they're saying after last time my birth is high risk and are putting me under a consultant.
Does anyone have any experience of having to do your birth plan etc under the consultant as I'm really dreading it.
My appointment isn't until May when I'm 27 weeks but I'm really dreading it....I just have no idea what to expect!
I wanted a nice, chilled home birth!

IM also consultant led and i don't think you will get your home birth or will have to really really argue to get one xx

You may be signed off back to low risk care and OK'ed for a home birth, depending on why you're classed as high risk. I was high risk last time due to the size of my 1st LO and sustaining a 3rd degree tear. I saw the consultant a couple of times, for 5 minutes at a time and got told "yep everything looks fine, I'm happy to sign you back over to the MW as long as everything stays straightforward". Then I had a couple of complications and was back under consultant care and he encouraged me to have a c-section. When I said no he said fine, you're probably best off trying for a vaginal delivery anyway (!) and even OK'ed me to use the midwife led unit. THEN I tested GBS+ so needed the antibiotics in labour so I had to be on labour ward. But after putting my case forward for wanting an active, water birth the consultant was happy for me to have a water birth on the L&D ward. That's what I had. Apart from getting the AB's intravenously (I'm not the best with needles in my veins and may have cried at that point  :haha:) it was nice and mellow, I just chilled in the pool with and was just as comfortable as if I'd been at home :).
