Anyone have tubes successfully repaired?

I recently found out my left tube is blocked. The way the re explained it is that the tubes is hydrosalpinx and would be draining toxins I to my uterus that would prevent pregnancy. We have May problems including male factor which is why she recommended ivf with ICsi. I got for a lap surgery on nov 6th or repair/remove the tube however the vibe I got from her is that with all of our other issues repairing if (if it can be) will not be very beneficial in the long run.

So my question is has anyone had a successful tubal repair or it it more likely to have ongoing issues with a repair?

I didn't want to read and run, as I'm on my phone and can't type my whole story out, but I was in a similar situation as you. In March 2012 I had a HSG which showed haldros in both Fallopian tubes, when I was told IVF was our only hope I was devastated. Went through IVF last year only for a bfn. It was then advised I have a lap to have a look and to see if they could repair, or at least cut open a section of my tubes to let them drain if necessary as I was adamant I didn't want to loose them as we have no children. My. Lap showed that whilst the tubes where slightly damaged, the haldros didn't exist the way the HSG showed them too. Within one month of the lap I fell pregnant naturally.

Go with what your gut says, and don't be afraid to get a second opinion.

I have recently had a Laparotomy and my fertility specialist has managed to repair both of my tubes. Still recovering though. Try repair hun, always get a second opinion. My first Specialist told me nothing could be done, my only option was ivf.. so always ask plenty of questions and get a second opinion. Thanks for sharing your stories likk and lea, dh did his repeat SA yesterday so I'm hoping that is better. I have another fu with the re next Thursday before surgery and I have a ton of questions for her and she hesitates at all I think well just get a second opinion

Hi Sprite,

I have a left hydrosalpinx that I am getting removed in a little less than a month. My RE explained to that it is preventing pregnancy, and that even if we were to do IVF it would need to be removed before hand (IVF with hydro is way less effective.

We have no other fertility issues - my DH has had amazing SAs and I am ovulating (I chart - I have PCOS, but with metformin I am ovulating again) but we have been TTC since 2011 without any pregnancies.

I am hopefully that the tube removal will improve my chances!

Hi miss hydra - wow our surgery dates are close. Mine is nov6th. I have another fu with the re today so I have a couple questions to ask her but I'm preparing myself for removal of the tube. I think with all of our issues combined that I want to give ivf the greatest chance. I read a bunch of threads about women doing multiple Ivfs and then doing a tubal removal and that just isn't realistic for us. I need to know going into the first ivf that I've done everything possible to give us the greatest chance.

Are u nervous for the surgery? I'm more nervous for the recovery. I only took a week off work but I work from home at my desk most of the day so as long as I don't have to take strong pain meds im thinking I should be ok. I'm hoping the recovery time is minimal

My surgery went well. Way less invasive then I was expecting and minimal pain. I did end having the left side completely blocked. I haven't seen the pictures yet but my husband has and he said it was pretty bad. Good news is my right side is perfect, no endo. We go on nov 21 for a follow up to see when we can start the whole ivf process.
