This appeared on my lower calf about a week ago - or at least that's when I first remember noticing it. It's about the size of a 5 pence piece if not a teeny bit bigger. It's more of a blotch than round and is pink, rough to the touch, a bit scaly, flat to the skin and not itchy.. and is isolated to this one spot - I don't have one any where else at all on my body.. I did a dreaded google search and it came up with a type of skin cancer so I of course freaked out!! M mum and OH think I'm being daft. Here are some ideas I had:

eczma - but can you just get it in ONE small place? I've been under a lot of stress this week so could have caused it as I don't usually suffer fom it..

fungal infection - don't think so though? or damaged hair follice..?

I've just started my second pack of the pill - yasmin - and I know one of the side effects can be dry skin, especially with it being Winter... and I remember last time I took this pill - prior to my two pregnancies - I had a similar patch of dry skin but on my upper arm, although it wasn't as pink I don't think.

It's not healing or getting any smaller but not worse either. Any ideas or anyone had similar? I don't want to freak out over nothing :dohh:

Thanks!

Looks like maybe an infected hair follicle. If it makes you feel better have it looked at by a doctor. I would probably just wait it out and see if it gets bigger or goes away on it's own.

I have something very like that on the back of my leg, finaly got round to going to the dr about it because I was dreading the worst and he said it was somthing dermatoses.
Basicly it is left over scaring from a insect bite I had and can somtimes take ages to come up after the bite mark seems to have gone.

Iv actualy had mine about 2 years and I was stupid not to get it checked out sooner but always thought what if.

There isnt realy much you can do about it, if it is that its there for good but there are creams to lighten the discolouration.
Best to pop along to the dr just to get it checked out and he will measure it and say to come back in a month so they can see if the size and shape has changed, if it hasnt its just scaring

Thanks for the replies. I hope it is something like you've both suggested and not anything sinister. Kind of scared to get it checked before Christmas in case it is something bad and want to be in ignorant bliss til Xmas is over. Hoping it's just a reaction to starting the pill again, like the patches I had on my arms when I used to take it before..
xx
