I will soon be doing my last FET with (if they survive the thaw) my last two embryos. At this point in all honesty I don't have a whole lot of hope for the process. I am really starting to think ahead to what is there for me to try after the FET. We cant afford another fresh Ivf cycle and honestly I don't think I want to spend another $15,000 for one cycle that may not even work. My DH and I have talked some and he really doesn't seem up to traditional adoption but when I brought up embryo adoption he seemed more open to it. I have looked and looked and I am still unclear about everything involved. From what I have learned we are not in a state that requires the traditional things involved with adoption such as home studies and such. I am wondering what other expenses would likely be involved in doing embryo adoption...besides the costs of getting my body ready and fs for putting them in my womb (FET fees). Seems to my naïve brain that since they are donated that to me the only fee should be for the cost of them having been stored. I know my fs has donated embryos but I am not sure exactly what they do with them. If they keep them or send them elsewhere. And I would want to know some about the people that the embryos came from. I have also thought about going back and trying clomid or femara again. I have been doing a lot of thinking because I cant just give up. Even though I feel like after each failure I just cant go through it again I know I will because this is one dream I cant let go of. Despite myself I still have hope and I so badly want another child. Does anyone have experience or information about embryos that have been donated for other women to use or success of going back to the basics after failed IVF & FET's? Or does anyone have any other thoughts or ideas? I am truly trying to think of all my possibilities.

I wonder if it is even worth trying something such as clomid again after ivf. My clomid cycle only cost about $100 per cycle...that is meds and bloodwork. I wonder if my fs would even let me.

Hello Mommyagain!

I want to encourage you that there are embryos available today through embryo adoption agencies! I know that it seems like the only cost should be the cost of the medical procedure, but there is so much more that has to be covered.

Agency fees cover the legal agreements, the transportation of the embryos, the genetic testing and blood work required by the FDA, and matching you with a family that has embryos that need a home! Clinics have long waiting lists, I have heard many many stories of people who have paid the $150 on Miracles Waiting and never get chosen to receive embryos. Families with embryos to donate most often want the security of going through an agency, to assist them in finding a recipient for their embryos.

I would suggest you listen to some webinars on the Embryo Adoption Awareness Centers website to learn about the process, and answer any questions you may have.

Best of luck to you!
