April Mummies 2011

I've been giving vitamin D drops when we haven't been able to be outside. It was very hot here this summer and Isis was only out long enough to go from the car to next air conditioned location. Now that it's cooler we've been out and I haven't been giving them to her.

I was really worried about being able to pump again after not pumping while on vacation for 12 days but I got 4 oz this morning so far. Not too bad. I was up to 5 oz but 4 will be ok. My goal is to reach 1 year BFing and then we'll see from there. I'm thinking very similar to you Jake's, I'd like to quit pumping at a year but we'll see. My baby loves her boobie milk!

We won't be trying for a baby at 18 months! :haha: We're thinking about having 4 years between babies. It might be long enough for me to forget how bad my labor and delivery was.

Jakes, I can't believe how early you have to sign up for preschool! Isis' daycare also has preschool as part of the facility so now that I think about it I guess in a way I had to sign her up when I was 15 weeks pregnant :haha:

I plan to breastfeed till a year also and then see how I goes. I always planned to wean fully at that time but now realize it's not something that you magically stop doing one day and I rather like the idea of continuing morning and evening feeds. Guess I'll just take my cue from little one and see where it gets us.

Today is our 8 year anniversay. Don't really do much usually but are going to attempt a nice dinner out with Lizzie. Hopefully I'll find time to stop and get DH a card and put Lizzies handprint on it.

Happy anniversary!!

I plan on breastfeeding until she self weans.
Not taking any vitamin drops or anything, we're going to be outside tons when she's 6 months and up so we don't need those.

I will have to look into the vitamin d drops. Its such crappy weather here for at least 6 months out of the year. I think by 8 months I will probably only be pumping. And I will continue that until whenever lol.

Well I have to go see FOB today. He thinks he is getting Rosie until Friday but I don't think so. I can't leave her that long. He might have changed his mind though. Idk. My mom talked to him the other day and he has been a lot nicer since. He has been making all the appointments he should have had all along which is good but I can't just let him home. I also don't think we can share Rosie. He wants her at least half time if not more but I just can't do it. I guess I have to see how today goes. Ahhhhg.

I never really thought about when to fully wean. I don't want to give her formula (I'm cheap-formula's expensive!). I'll keep as long as she wants but the pump gets shut off at a year. I'll still go feed her during the day if it works for both of us and of course on weekends she'll be fed on demand.

Naima, lucky you going outside when Aleena is 6 months on! Isis will be covered from head to toe in fear of frostbite :haha:

Sam, he shouldn't have her that much while she's so little! She needs her mommy! Even the courts would agree. There's no reason why he should expect to have her more than half the time, even though you're working. Good luck!

Well we've been staying inside ever since she was born because it's too hot out.. 95+ degrees.
So we'll be outside everyday as soon as it cools down some, which will hopefully be within a month!
We really only have 2 super cold months in a year, usually january and february.. sometimes march too.

He said that if I can't pump enough then she can just have formula too. Ummm no! Bc I don't see how that would work with him having no money for it.

sounds like you need to get a court order in place asap. also, remember that since you're still married and no custody placement in place, wherever she's at she stays. not to make you worry but if he takes her, he can just not give her back until there's a court order, police won't do a thing either. you could just refuse him to take her and he too can't do a thing about it.

Sorry for all you're going through Sam and your back acting up on top of it. :hugs:

Have you contacted a lawyer yet?

I just wanted to post a few pictures from this last week. We had a great time! It really made me want to move back to the West coast though. I don't know if I can keep suppressing my desire to be back there. I'd feel bad moving away from DH family but Isis is my parents only grandchild and probably only one until I have another. Isis would be far from her other 1st cousins but would have a good number of extended cousins which is how I grew up.
Ok time for pictures, the first is us on the beach we got married on a couple days after our 5 year aniversary, next is our first time with avocado, then our first taste of crab ;), then apples while watching a movie, and a sweet potato fry with no salt. I'll put the rest of my pictures form vacation on FB later.

Any teething advice? My not quite 4 month old little amn has both his bottom teeth appearing, they cut through the gum today and he basically cried all day...............

there seems to be so many different opinions about what actually helps - I see a lot of those amber necklaces but there is absolutely no evidence behind them (none that would stand up anyway), a friend swears by those parsons powders.

I suspect it's all a distraction technique and calpol and cuddles is the only real thing that works :(

we have given calpol and I have not been able to put him down all day! thought this was something that happened around 6 months? he seems so little to be suffering all this pain x

I don't need "evidence" in studies about Baltic amber teething necklaces.
Ever since my DD wears hers she has not drooled at all, before that for months I'd have to change her bib every few hours cause it would be soaked.
Its amazing and I love it!

does aleena have any teeth?
I dont mind the dribble he has just been so upset all day today

are they girly?

No no teeth yet!
She's been teething since she was 10 weeks old though, a few are so close to cutting through!

And you have them in dark and lighter colors and you also have bracelets and anklets, I think they're unisex!
Ive read from the uk girls that this is a good seller: Www.dinodaisy.co.uk

Oh and your baby might be going through the 4 month growth spurt and sleep regression too! Which makes a fussy baby.

I wasn't knocking them! Not one person I know has said anything against them DESPITE there being no reason they should work. I'll take other Mum's/my friends words as being important in stuff like this :)

Pickle dribbles for England :( It's such a pain. She was chewing her fingers yesterday and the drool was running down her arm, off her elbow and only me in a continuous stream :(

i don't really like the idea of a necklace, but the bracelet/anklet sounds adorable!

Gem - you could try the teethers you pop in the fridge, so he could gnaw on that. Or a wet flannel cooled in the fridge. Some say freezer, but may be too cold! Obviously calpol. How about trying the calpol teething gel? Lots of cuddles are often the best though! Poor little man!

I have heard from friends that the amber necklaces appear to make a difference. But not for me, I am afraid!

I understand about the dribble!!!! It SOAKS through! Jake only stopped dribbling when he learnt how to control it by not letting it constantly drip from his mouth LOL He was well over a year, I believe. But I think cutting a tooth did help, if only a little bit. Our babies are growing so fast!!!
