April Mummies 2011

Hi all, finally got around to posting on this thread!

Well, Eva was finally allowed home from the special care unit in hospital on Tuesday, 3 weeks exactly from her birth. It was such a relief to get her home safe and sound so we can finally be a little family together - it was so worrying and stressful having her in hospital and we were literally there with her 12 hours a day, then it broke my heart having to leave her every night !

So we've been home a few days now and it's amazing! Although I agree with all you girls - it sure is hard work ! :)

I'm managing to breastfeed Eva, and she's taken to it really well - too well actually as she seems permanently attached! The nights really are tough and sleep is limited ! !!! Time can seem to pass in a blur and I have a constant battle to stay awake whilst nursing.

EVA just fallen asleep on me whilst feeding so going to attempt to transfer her to Moses basket without waking her - highly unlikely I know!

Speak soon! Xxx

abbygael had her newborn photo shoot today and thought i'd share a sneak peek photo!!

Glad Ava is home smeej. It really is hard work. Nothing can prepare you, but I keep being tild that it gets easier. I wouldn't be without my little man now though.

Cute pic Dana.

Aww Smeej Im so glad shes home at last. I know how hard and worrying it is since I was in the exact same situation! I bet you feel relieved now eh! :) x

Dana, shes beautiful ^_^ x

Hospital at Home came out to us today to weigh Ollie. Hes now 6lb! :D Growing quickly now lol. Shame that his newborn clothes STILL wont fit him though. They all drown him haha.
Hes sat in his bouncer chair thingie now farting away. Bet hes leaving me a little present, ugh xD

Also, remeber to dry your hands properly after washing them so much ladies!
The hospital hand gel plus not always drying my hands properly has made my hands red raw and so so sore! Theyre chapped as hell. Looks like theyre burnt because theyre constantly red atm :\ Blehh.

Rex got weighed again yesterday. He'd gained another 60g but that still leaves his weight loss at 7% which is the threshold for triggering the bloody feeding plans. So I'm still stuck on the 3 hourly feed wheel plus expressing 3 times a day & topping him up. I'm knackered by it! So much so that I was naughty last night & didn't wake him to feed cos I needed some unbroken sleep. Now I feel guilty that he went nearly 5 hours! It's ridiculous. He's getting weighed AGAIN tomorrow so hopefully I can get off this plan. Feel like if I was giving him formula we wouldn't be in this mess :-( xxx

Great picture Dana! I really need to get pictures of Rosie done. That's on my things to do this week!

I can't believe Rosie is 3 weeks old today! We're taking out first trip into town together (and alone) today. So very exciting and scary at the same time! I hope it goes smoothly!

Don't feel guilty Sazzle, i think i would have done the same, you need to keep yourself sane, i'm sure one missed feed won't make much differene. Sounds like your doing a brilliant job :)

Here are some photo's of my little man at last :)

Glad to see she is home smeej! :)

All the pics are so cute!! :)

I took Ava this morning and she weighs 8lbs 9oz!! I couldn't believe it..almost 2lbs since birth lol

aww cute pics dana and crazy!

still having feeding issues here! not a supply problem at all (anyone recommend super absorbant breast pads!?) just latch prob. Tried shields which works one feed but next feed i could literally only get him to attach to my nipple and it even hurt through the shield so ditched those as don't want even more bad habits developing!

I swear feeding is harder than labour!

Sazzle, keep going hun, one missed feed won't matter and you'll get there!

smeej, so glad your little girl is home :) xx

took abby for her 2 week appt. today, she's now 7lbs 6 oz 21 inches. so still a little peanut :cloud9:

and another picture from yesterday's photo shoot..

Beautiful!
I'm going to post on gumtree and ask my local college to find student photographers... I can't afford a professional so I figure a student might be cheaper/free in exchange for being allowed to use the pics in their portfolio.

I took this one earlier though that i quite like... i totally want cute little props to play with though lol

this is a friend of a friend who does this for a side business that was offering free sessions to all babies born in april. i get a free dvd with all the pics too, thought it was a deal we couldnt refuse since no way could we afford it otherwise.

dont really know what to do about sleeping at the moment.
theres all this stuff about making sure babies lie on their backs... but toby just wont settle. if i put him on his back hes grunting and groaning within minutes, even if hes asleep. then he wakes himself up and cries and fusses until i pick him up.
but earlier i put him on his side and he slept until i rolled him onto his back and then he did his usual uncomfortable noisy thing and woke himself up.

i really dont want him to sleep on his side... all this stuff about back sleeping has made me paranoid about him sleeping any other way, but i dont see that i have much choice

at some point you just have to do what's best for your baby. abby sleeps on her belly, be damned what the dr's say about choking. we do make sure there isn't anything around her to choke her tho. dr did say side is better than belly so if that's what he likes, stick with that.

just to let you know, both my LOs have rolled onto their sides to sleep since birth and I was told it's fine. You gotta do what's right for you Hun x

Aww some beautiful pics those who posted them! You all have gooorgeous babies :) x

Cottles, its a shame we dont live closer because Id have tried doing you some pics lol. I studied photography for a year and a half in college :)

Ugh does anyone know what to do with thier baby if theyre suffering from a snotty nose? Ollie is really bunged up in those nostrils and keeps making horrible snuffly noises. How do I clear it? :S

Lol gem, that is a shame!

Poor ollie :( the only thing I can suggest is saline nasal spray... Toby suffers from the snuffles (pretty sure it's hayfever actually) and s squirt up each nostril with that stuff clears him right up

I'm sooo tired. Had 40 mins sleep last night (2 x 20 minutes)... So I'm waiting for him to settle now so I can wash and sterilise his bottles, have some toast then go back to bed!

Wow 40 mins sleep, I thought I had hardly any sleep. Had about 3 hours. I ended up getting in the spare bed and George slept with me. Really don't want to sleep in the same bed but I needed sleep and I didn't want him keeping OH awake.

LO just seems like he is in so much pain, he just crys and crys. Don't know what to do for him. I'm thinking og giving up breastfeeding as think maybe its my milk that's making him poorly. His poo is bright green :(

Rex has put on another 100g. Phew! I'm 'allowed' not to express any extra til next weigh in on Thursday & see if his weight still goes up. His weight loss is now at 4.6%.

Had a horrible night. He wouldn't settle til 2am, slept for 2 hours, was up for 2 hours with 2 feeds, then slept for another 2 hours. Soooo tired & it's my first day on my own today. Managed to get us both dressed but that's about it! I can't see us ever leaving the house just the 2 of us at this rate! How do you do it?! Worrying about getting to docs on time for post-natal check up already! x
