April Mummies 2011

Don't feel bad about WIC Dana! Its awesome! I don't want to go back to work but with DH finding out about his next surgery next month I'm going to have to. Figure ill work while its busy and then probably go to school for something better financially

i've gotten maybe 3 hours sleep. abby is finally asleep and i have to wake her up to bring the other kid to school. judge me if you want, but i can't wait til summer break when he goes back to his mom's.

Ladies I need your help. Last night LO woke every hour to feed but it was just for comfort, and this is not the first time - I really did not want to give him a dummy as I don't want him to rely on it forever and take him away from BF. What would you do?

Congrats to Jen and woohoo Gem.

Can I join? Caitlin was due on Easter Sunday. After I was diagnosed with pre-eclampsia I was induced (twice!) and she arrived on Mother's Day. The best present!

The labour was hard after three nights in hospital with very little sleep and progressed very quickly once my waters broke. She arrived safe and well but I suffered a haemorrhage and lost 3.5 pints of blood. She weighed a tiny 5lbs 13oz and did nothing but sleep for the first few days. We had to stay in hospital whilst I was treated and we tried to BF.

LO just wasn't interested in feeding and after lots of effort from us both and MWs in the hospital and at home, we had to FF to get her weight up. I tried to express but wasn't producing much milk. I was still ill myself and exhausted, so it's not too big a surprise. The MWs in the hospital were awful to me about it and I suffered with guilt for the first few weeks.

She is now gaining weight and has outgrown her early baby clothes. She's happy, feeding regularly and spending more and more time awake.

Looking forward to getting to know you! :flower:

Welcome Mrs C! What a wonderful mothers day present! My LO was due mothers day but popped out a few days early.
Dont let people make you feel guilty for not breastfeeding. Sometimes its just not possible, and at the time it sounds like formula was best for the both of you x

So Toby had his 6 week check today.... Lil chunk weighs 10lb 2oz..... 3lb 1oz more than his birthweight

Welcome Mrs C!!! My LO was born the same day as yours, but it wasn't mothers day here.

I have to share this picture my dad just sent me. I had Aaron at their house on Monday and we gave him a bath. My father couldn't get over how much he enjoyed it, dad spend the whole time taking pictures lol. He sure is a proud Grandpa!

awww, jeepgirl that's precious. abby screams her bloody head off during a bath, lol.

Thanks ladies! He loves the bath.

I give Aaron a dummy and it does comfort him when all he wants is to suck. But he will just spit it out when what he really wants is to feed. Are you having any latch problems? If not, a dummy probably wont take away from BFing.

Gorgeous pic jeep. My LO also loves a bath.

Babybefore I gave George a dummy and he had no problems latching back on when BF. The midwives advised against it but it just gave him a bit of comfort and he doesn't have it all the time.
Breastfeeding lasted 3 weeks and now my little man is on formula he is a lot happier and doesn't cry all the time. Wierd that my baby seemed in pain all the time when I gave him my breast milk but not on formula. Hmmm. I would have liked to BF longer as the weight was dropping off, lost nearly 2 stone and only have another 8 lb to go until I'm back to pre pregnancy weight.

Welcome Mrs-C!! :)

Cute pic JeepGirl!! My lo loves the bath as well!! :)

Took Ava for her 1 month check-up and she weighs 8 lbs 13oz and is 21 inches long!! Unfortunately she stills has a heart murmur so we have to visit the cardiologist..Doc says it seems like nothing but i'm still worried :(

you could always pump and donate the milk to the local hospital. i'm finding it really hard to find the time to pump along with all the other things i need to do. any suggestions ladies?

Hope all goes well and it is nothing:hugs: A good friend of mine has had a murmur since birth. She is now a happy, healthy 30 year old. She has played sports her whole life and you would never know about the murmur.

Do you have a pump than will run on batteries? If so Medela sells a top for hands free pumping, or you could cut holes in a tight tank top.

Dana- pumping is so hard! And time consuming! AND I don't get as much out as I would like to!!! Kinda sucks lol.

We started giving Rosie a binki right away even though the lactation consultants and nurses said not to because it could take away from BFing. But sometimes all she wants is to suck suck suck and it's fine- she also spits it out if she is actually hungry.

My incision is sooo achy today! And yesterday too. Hmm.

Well actually on a real computer for once and here are some pictures of Rosie. There's one of Rosie eating but it was the only way she would let me take her picture after her bath.
She also LOVES baths though. But they have ot be warm enough that the things that say it's too hot say it's too hot- then slowly add cold in until it JUST barely goes away.

Yeah thats a good idea...Didn't realise the hospital took donated milk. I used to struggle to pump as well as bf. Just couldn't find the time, i only managed once a day. The days just fly by. I can see why you wouldn't want to go back to work soon, it just wouldn't seem right.

I admire the ladies in America that go back to work so soon. You really should be given longer off work.

So annoyed! We've spent 5 hours at the hospital this afternoon getting Rex's jaundice checked just for them to take a blood sample from his hand (broke my heart!) and a urine sample. What a waste of time! Poor Rex is really unsettled & we weren't even offered a drink the whole time we were there. Grr! Bloody NHS! Rant over! X

they take it for the nicu babies who's mom's can't express milk or whatever. not sure if they do it over by you but at least worth asking about. you could always pump and dump if they don't just so you can keep up with the weight loss.

the nurses in my dr's office were saying the same thing, how poorly they treat pregnant and new mother's over here. 6 weeks isn't enough, especially if you've had a c section. here's hoping dh gets his new position so i can stay home with her.

Pump and dump lol. I like that :)

6 weeks definatly isn't enough. I hope your goverment will change that. New mothers should have at least 6 months I think. Hope your DH gets his promotion so you can stay off longer with your LO.

6 weeks is nowhere near enough! You just start to get things happening and then BAM! BACK TO WORK!
