April Mummies 2011

Had the babies weighed yesterday. Harley is now 8lb 15oz and Ruby is 9lb 1oz. Also got the Depo injection today as i came on my 1st period.
Is anyone else having problems with colic? Harley is suffering really bad, hate seeing him in pain :-( Tried infacol and gripe water which made no difference, the gripe water just made him really sick. I've bought some Dentinox colic drops today to see if they work, if not ill have to use colief. xx

Toby was suffering with colic... Took maybe 2 weeks to get over the worst of it. Using gripe water in the day and comfort milk at night seems to settle him. Hope it doesn't last long hun x

Toby slept last night from 11:30 til 4am, had a bottle then settled himself in his Moses basket and we got up at 7... Such a lovely night! Hoping this could be the start of some sort of night time routine :happydance:

Ooh! Got him weighed yesterday too... 10lb 2oz. He was 7lb 1oz when born.... Lil chubster lol

Ugh. Got my first AF this week. It's HORRIBLE. so so heavy. :(

Whats AF?

Ah I finally got ollie registered at the docs lol. Took me ages because I just couldnt find the time!
Taking him to another college with me today to see what this one is like because I wasnt really keen on the other one.

Gem, AF= aunt flo, or your period :)

eugh we're getting into a terrible routinue, involving alex taking till at least 1am to settle down as pretty sure he has colic so just screams, then waking around 4 for food and a change, then taking about 1-2 hours to settle again for him to wake at 7 :S...mummy can't survive on only 4-5 hours broken sleep every night!

i've ordered some infacol...fx'ed it helps!

Funny you say that cottles as mine is hardly anything i was expecting it to be really heavy xx

Kinda sad- just found a bunch more newborn clothes and Rosie is getting big! Gonna have to change her more just so she wears them! AND she slept just over 7hrs last night! Then went back to sleep for 3hrs!

How many Ozs are your babies eating? Trying to figure out how big to make Rosies bottles. She took 3oz earlier.

Yeah, 5oz here too... every 3 to 4 hours.

(Although saying that, at night and for his first morning feed he only drinks about 3oz of it.)

Went back to dr today for weight check, she gained 1/2 oz in 2 days which is fine, they just wanted to make sure with the spitting up that she wasn't loosing weight.

Nurse suggested cutting dairy out of my diet for a few weeks to see if that helps with her fussiness and spitting up, she may have a sensitivity to milk protein. Funny thing is my gut instinct has been telling me that for weeks. So we'll see if that helps any.

Her poor baby acne is so terrible looking and she's scratched part of it. Really hope it starts to heal soon. I know it bothers me much more than it bothers her.

Does anyone else have constantly erect and tender nipples? Started about the time I started pumping twice a day. I think I may need to buy larger breast shields for my pump. At the end of a pumping session my nipples are huge and disgusting looking. I need to get a more padded bra to hide these things! Embarrassing!

When Lizzie takes a bottle she averages about 3 oz. No clue what she gets from me :)

Aaron had bad baby acne for a few weeks. I said he must take after his momma... he broke out the day before we had our family pictures done:haha: I read the other day to put a bit of breast milk on it, so I've been doing that for 3 days now and its actually working.

My nipples are always erect too, I was looking at them today wondering if they will ever go back to normal. They were tender for a few weeks, but are feeling better now.

I fill Ollies bottles to 90ml so 3oz
He rarely drinks it all though. Sometimes he only drinks 1oz :/
But he feeds every 2 to 4 hours. Hes fed on demand so just whenever hes hungry really.

Ahhh date today ^_^

enjoy your date gem!

alex has anywhere from 3-5oz in a bottle.

bernina...yep totally have the huge nipple problem, gross huh!? they do settle down a bit between feeds though, but sometimes just think, woah! still tender to touch big time too :(

so any advice ladies, about 11pm everynight alex starts screaming, his back arches and his belly looks swollen, i'm sure he;s in pain. is this colic? he's fed, been changed, won't play and can't be settled...any ideas?

going to speak with the health visitor neext week but the clinics not until tuesday :( xx

Caro deffo sounds like colic. My son had that at the same time every night, back arching and we couldn't console him for a couple hours. It peaked around 4 weeks, it usually is unheard of after 12 weeks. Maynot last that long but usually doesn't go past this age. Amelia gets odd nights, tonight was one, where she's inconsolable but usually has a fart as gas gets trapped eSjly. We worked out it's because I have a fast flow which she can't keep up with, so gulps it down.

Had a nice day today - went to where they film Top Gear and saw supercars and kids events. I find feeding in public so easy now , I used to be uncomfortable but though sod it, If someone doesn't like it, either don't look or throw a blanket over YOUR head!!!

Definitely agree... Toby had colic for a short while and it seemed to be caused by trapped wind so all I could do was try to comfort him til the farts came... And when they did there was usually a LOT!

I booked in to get a photo done of Toby and Charlie (DFs best friends 15 week old son) at mothercare. Just researching how much prints are after the original 9.99 one- I'm guessing a lot! Still, only want one pic so we can get it copied cheaply at boots or something and then we'll have nice fathers day presents for the dads!

I'm finding it impossible to get a photo of Tobys smile lately... Even so, this is my photo of the day!
