April Mummies 2011

Gertrude I am bottle feeding too, tried breastfeeding but George just would not latch on, every midwife going had a try at getting him on but he got so stressed out by it, in the end I was hand expressing and dripping it into his mouth, doing it this way George had 4 days of cholostrum but it was not sustainable, I was exhausted and couldnt do it by myself Nick was having to hold onto george while I did it so he was exhausted too.

Now George is bottle fed with Aptamil, I do express a couple of times a day and get enough to give one bottle of breast milk a day but I am not sure how long this will continue.

The most frustrating thing is occasionally he will latch on but never for more than 5-10 mins and then he is still hungry and wont go back onto breast, he gets so upset when he is trying to get on and it upsets me which I am sure doesnt help.

I believe whats best for me and George is that he is well fed and I am relaxed and happy so I dont feel guilty and nor should anyone else who if FF xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Ahh doctors are SHIT.
Im now on like 7 tablets a day because of this friggin lump an no one seems to know what it is or why i keep going numb an shit on one side of my body :/
Been to two different docs and they both dont know whats up so have to go back next week and then theyre gonna start tests if the tablets havent helped :(

At least Ollie is ok now though. Hes napping atm so thought Id jump on here :)

MissFox - You had an infection in your c-section incision and are breastfeeding aren't you? Were you put on antibiotics? I've been on them for about 2 weeks now and LO is extremely fussy at feeds, pulling away, crying and constantly wriggling and straining as well as passing a lot of wind. Am thinking that maybe the antibiotics have gone through to her and messed up her digestive system, did you have anything like this with Rosie?

Hi ladies, well had many plans to go and get myself some new clothes today but Daniel had an extremely fussy night where he just wanted to feed constantly and then kept being sick and this carried on until about 1 where I think he has completely exhausted himself so am at home again. I was in tears last night and nearly resorted to formula as I was so tired, was going to go and buy a breast pump today but not had a chance to get out so will wait and see what happens tonight.

Anyone have their baby in a routine yet, i.e naps, bedtime.

Sorry to hear you had a rough night :hugs:

I'm trying to get an evening routine established but not a daytime routine. That's pretty much baby led at the moment. If Toby wants to nap, I let him nap. If he wants playtime, I play with him. His body wants feeding pretty much like clockwork every 3 hours so that's the only thing we're kind of in a routine with during the day.

In the evening though, DF gets home at 6pm. The plan is to have dinner pretty much straight away then have quiet time. About half an hour before his next bottle is due, we'll give Toby a bath, then his bottle, then put him down to sleep.

I kept being told off for this as it can sometimes be as late as 10:30 before Toby goes to bed, but it works for us at the moment and DF worries that if I start the bedtime routine before he gets home and we've had dinner, they won't get bonding time.

For those who have had their first AF since having lo...How long did you cramp before AF finally started????? I have been having AF cramping for like a week, but nothing yet?????

that's one present i wish i could return to sender!

thanks jakes and emmys mummy, finally got him to sleep after nearly 3hours of crying, my whole body and mind feel mentally and physically exhausted. wow! my poor baby, it just breaks your heart seeing and hearing him in so much pain

fx'ed he stays down long enough to get some dinner and DH is home soon so he can have a turn trying to sooth him later!

Big hugs caro, its just horrible when they have colic. So draining. My lo had colic the first few weeks, just constant crying when he was awake. It broke my heart. But since changing to formula and using dr browns bottles as well as infacol before every feed, he is a different baby. God the first few weeks he had colic was so stressful. It will get better x

Caro - hope you have a better evening and got a chance to rest and eat some dinner, at least?

Amelia is very random with her crying spells - the Gripe water seems to help, although I have only just started using it what with her just turning a month old. I have only needed to use it once, so not bad.

But I really do believe she has some form of reflux - she is awfully sicky after feeds, but that could also be due to me over-producing, therefore she gulps down wind, then the more milk she drinks ends up sitting on the wind. It then gets burped up. Then she is bloody hungry again, an hour later! Oh yes, I have this girl worked out to a T!

I am finding her easy actually - it is Jake who is getting harder. Nothing to do with Amelia - he loves her and isn't jealous AT all. He is just discovering his real personality and is growing independence - and stubborness - have this all to come girls!

yep i have a stroppy 3 year old Jakes he's harder work than all 3 babies put together sometimes. I swear he thinks hes a teenager lol
xx

I had my 3yo nephew round today for a few hours. Respect to you ladies, it was a nightmare! The little dudes got limitless energy. And loudness! And he gets bores so easily he needs constant attention. Not easy with a screaming Toby too!
And DF just sat there on his laptop leaving me to deal with both. Dunno if it's because tyler isn't his son but at times he just completely blanked him, or got fed up with the hyper kid running around..... This is the man who is trying to get me to have another baby!!! The only way that'll be happening any time soon is by accident! I don't think I could cope.
