Fraternal twins are genetic on the female side only. this is because 2 eggs are released and both fertilized, but the likelihood of fraternal twins also goes up with maternal age since "things" stop working as well as they should. From everything I've read there's no genetic basis for identical twins and they are considered to be random. I'm very interested in this topic because my maternal aunt and uncle are fraternal twins and my grandmother had them when she was young so I always figured someone in our lineage was up for twins but no one has so far. My aunt and my mom both only had singletons and my female cousin has had two singletons as well. I keep telling dh that we're due for twins! He's terrified because we really only want two max children since a third makes us almost need a bigger second vehicle. I mean we could squeeze three carseats across the back of both our vehicles but it would be tight. I honestly think it would serve us right for trying to control so much of our lives to have twins if we have another. Dh is still in the no second child camp. I told him to give it another year. I'd like to make a decision by Isis's 3rd birthday.
Btw, I LOVE Greta Jane! I tend to like less common names and I've been hearing of a lot of Olivia's lately so that's not one I'm a big an of. I'm sure your hubby will be fine boy or girl!
Katherine, your dh makes me wanna punch him! He's such a man child! Make sure you get enough rest!
Everything's going pretty good around here. Dh is traveling for work and in the next 2 weeks I'll see him for 36 hours. Then we'll be meeting up in Hawaii! I have a ton of things to do before then at work and at home so I'm starting to get stressed.
It's so cute, Isis has started making her Elmo doll do everything she does. She asks if Elmo can have milky and has him "nurse" in the mornings. Then this morning she made me put her pants on Elmo and then one of her shoes. She cracks me up. I'm noticing that she's been better behaved since dh left. I know she's also better behaved when I'm not home. I wonder what's up with that.
