April Mummies 2011

Could be a growth spurt maybe. How much do you give her in each bottle? Doesshe finish them all?

we give her 4 oz we did put it up 2 5 but she kept projectile vomiting everywhere so knocked it back down to 4 oz sometimes she polishes it off others she only has 3oz but then cries about half hour later for more and could end up having 6oz in total as she bits and bobs.

Hi everyone.....

Now dont get cross with me but the last 2 nights george has slept through!!!! On saturday he went from 12am to 7am and last night 1130 pm to 8am! Only thing is it takes ages to settle him at night. Should we start encouraging him to settle himself to sleep or is it still ok to be letting him fall asleep on us? (He is 3 weeks old on tuesday)

oh jen, thats so not fair! fab for you though! i'd go for settling him on you still don't think babies can self settle until they;re around 9+ weeks old :). Whatever you're doing seems to be working!

hayley, is LO maybe actually tired when she fusses? I kept feeding alex when I thought he was hungry and it turns out he was tired which then gave us a cycle of him not sleeping long, then feeding for not long as he was to tired to feed, etc. Once I now know he's had a good long feed, is changed and played and he starts getting grizzly it means he needs to go to sleep.

Oh jen that's GREAT!!!! I say do what you're doing! I was still having Rosie fall asleep on me around then too. I can then put her to bed and she sleeps through most nights.
We've been camping and its been fabulous in terms of Rosie. The weather has been horrible mostly but Rosie slept from 9:30 til around 6 then back to sleep until 9!! My boobs were huge but I'm a happy momma!!

Well done Rosie and Sam I am pleased you enjoyed your first family holiday.

Thing is last night we put him down drowsy and the night before we rocked him to sleep! Not sure what works!! Just been looking online and most sites seem to suggest self settling after 3-4 months but the book I have been reading suggests starting it straight away. The NHS advice is not to self settle before 6 months argggggggghhhhhhhhhhhh what is right???

I think every baby is different when it comes to self soothing.
I'd never leave my baby cry it out though .

Your baby is only 3 weeks old, I'd let him sleep on you. My baby sleeps on me and she's 2 months saterday.
You can't spoil a baby under 6 months.. Your baby just needs his mommy. Can you Blame him? He's only been out of his safe and warm environment close to mommy for 21 days!!

mommy's bragging photos!

Choco that's so unfair. Lucky you though :) the most my LO has slept at night is 5 hours. He self settles him self most nights which is good as he never falls asleep I've fed him so I just put him in his basket whilst awake and he falls asleep within half an hour. Iuckily he doesn't cry when I put him down as I don't believe in letting babies cry it ouit. Not at this age anyway.

Has anyone taken you LO to any baby groups yet? I've signed up for baby massgae but we haven't been to any groups yet and I keep thinking we should have? George just seems to young. I've only been to the baby clinic to get him weighed.

has anyone put their LO's directly in the cot yet? My LO has been in the moses basket which we put inside the cot but we are thinking she might settle better directly in the cot

Donna - Gabe is beautiful :3 Im so glad that things are going well with him ^_^
Shame about the inlaws though. :/ They sound sucky. Big hugs for you hun! x

Sazzler - Oh dear :| Get well soon x

Jen - Yayfor George sleeping through! Fantastic when they do it isnt it :D x
I usually leave Ollie to try and settle himself at night but if he cries too much then I try and settle him myself. He settles himself more often than not though :)
But I guess its whatever works best for mum and baby.
And woah, that 3 weeks has gone fast!

Dana - She's so so gorgeous! Beautiful smile :) x

CrazyBird - I have Ollie signed up for little explorers which starts in September. I dont want to start any classes too early though. No one ever speaks to me wherever I take him so I always feel outta place anyways lol.

Ive bought a breathing monitor thing to go under his matress now... I havent been getting much sleep of a night for worrying! He sleeps fine but I keep poking him every so often just to check hes ok. Just need some reassurance I guess, hence the monitor.
Poor little mite is black and blue off all the needles and drips hes had!
They gave him an antibiotic injection today and he ended up with proper little tears since he cried so much :(

New pics! :D Ive edited two of them aswell since I was bored lol.

Have been away for a few days in Dorset - only just got both kids asleep!!! Talk about routine thrown out the window! We do have to have a routine here otherwise I'd have a cranky child on my case

Amelia usually cluster feeds from 6-8pm so I know she's gearing up for a long sleep. Usually get her bather and in bed by 8pm.

Oh my poor little girl has baby acne!!! Jake had this too, and it lingers for a few weeks. Little whiteheads and pimples over her beautiful face  But I know it'll clear soon. Has anyones lo had this yet? Not all babies get it but it is common around 5/6 weeks old.

I love this age now!!!! So alert and smiley! I have started putting a collection of different patterns at the side of her ram and bed, so she can gaze at them for a while - until she goes bosseyed!!!

Ahh lovely pics girls!!

Amelia doesn't go through the night - don't expect it too soon really! Jake was going through the night (including a dream feed at 11pm) at 9 weeks consistently. BUT he was FF so different ballgame!

I feel like a zombie tbh. Amelia slept the longest stretch last night - 11.00pm-2.30am WOW (!) But in all honesty, I love the cuddles we get together in bed at night whilst everyone else is snoring :D

UGH we are going through the TERRIBLE TWOS with Jake - he is HORRIBLE at trhe moment!!!!!!!!! Screams at me when he can't get his own way, drags feet everywhere, bit me earlier, won;t eat his dinner suddenly - ugh! It'll pass I am sure but this is all to come...again!

Gorgeous pics ladies!! What a bunch of cuties! My avatar is a new pic of my lo!:)

JakesMummy- My lo had the baby acne as well! Im glad it is finally starting to go away! :)
Oh and my daughter is almost 4 and i still feel like im in the terrible two's some days..lol:haha:

^^ your DD is so cute!!

Heres my DD a few days ago, when we got out of bed in the morning.. excuse the baby talk LOL

jakes if it helps just let him not eat. kids wont starve themselves. worked like a charm with my step son. try not to give him any attention or discipline for the non eating as sometimes that's all that he's looking for. just explain if he doesnt' eat, there's no food til next meal. he tests you once when he's actually hungry and that'll be the end to that little game.
