April Mummies 2011

I had a great weekend! Our really good friends from when DH was in grad school came to visit and to meet Isis. It was nice to have them around. Unfortunately Miss Isis has decided that her bedtime is no earlier than 8:30 when we had been able to get her down by 7:30 last week. She is still sleeping her normal 5 hour, 2-3 hour, 2 hour night schedule, but I was enjoying the baby-free evenings. She's also struggling to take naps as well. She's become very active-rolling, watching everything etc. so I'm wondering if it's because everything is so interesting so she doesn't want to sleep.
I have my 6 week check up tomorrow afternoon. I hope everything is good and I get the go ahead to exercise. I really want to start running again!

Lilly, your daughter is so cute! I'm not AP but we're baby wearing and not CIO. We're not co-sleeping. DH sleeps too lightly and wouldn't be able to sleep through all of Isis' night noises.

Jakes, Isis has baby acne too. It started around 3 weeks and has moved from her cheeks, forehead, nose and chin to her ears, head, neck. I'm hoping that it's slowly going away. I think there's a whole week of missing pictures because of the acne.

Gem, Ollie is so cute! I would get a breathing monitor too after what you went through.

I can't go back any further on the post but I read through it all.
Hope everyone has a great night/day :flower:

Poppie did well she slept from 10.30 till 3 we put her directly in her cot bless her just fed her and now she is in cot dozing bless her

Yeah, she really hates tummy time :haha: She rolls from tummy to back pretty well and I've seen her roll from back to her side. I'm happy that she's that strong but I was hoping to have her be immobile for a little longer.

Same as pickle, she LOATHES being on her tummy and rolled over from the first time we put her there :D She is physically very strong though - but in contrast she hasn't clearly smiled yet :( I think she was about to a couple of times but nothing very clear :( (that or what she does I don't recognise as a smile!)

We aren't APing either, as some of the principles seem a little extreme (a friend of mine who is was still BFing at 3, and I don't find that too comfortable tbh) but I do baby-wear, she comes into our bed sometimes, I don't let her CIO either :)

She is very cute though and I know I'm biased but she is :haha:

Oh we know what to do and trust me he will eat when hungry! Just a little imp at the mo!

I love all the cute baby pics.

Jakes my LO had baby acne, its just about cleared from his face but he now has a few spots on his head.

Gem that's not nice that the other mums don't speak to you. When I went to the baby clinic only one mum spoke to me whilst I was waiting to see the HV. It seemed like all the other mums knew each other and I was the new girl lol. All the babies there were older and were playing ang George just stayed asleep. Apart from going to baby massage I think I will wait till he is a few months older and then take him to baby groups. Although it would be nice to make friends with some other mummies.

George is loosing his hair bless him. Has anyone elses LO lost their hair?

Loads! Toby had a full head of hair when he was born. Now he's losing it in like a donut ring around his head. He still has thick hair on top, and hair at the bottom by his neckline, but in the middle he's getting bald spots! I'm hoping it'll grow back soon though.

my baby won't sleep! argh, I don't want to let him CIO but I did even resort to leaving him 2-3mins crying to see what happened, he just got louder! we've rocked with and without dummy in my arms, danced, jigged him, put him down, put him in his bouncer and then in his pram. been for a walk, tried feeding again.

he's def changed and fed loads, we've played and he's clearly tired as he starts drifting off but then its like he realises and shakes himself awake :S

any ideas?

he's had baby acne too, its nearly gone now though :S. and hair wise he had loads at birth but its slowly receeding :haha:

caro, I don't know if it will help but Isis has started to be a pain to put down too. What we do is our normal night routine, bath, change to pj's, feed in a quiet area till drowsy or asleep, put down. When she wakes up and cries one of us goes into her room and just puts the pacifier in and leaves. When she cries again we repeat putting in the pacifier. After about 2-4 times of that she goes down.
Good luck!

thanks :) yeah tried swaddling, though not during the day. he's even started rejecting the dummy :dohh:

white noise might help as thinking about it he fell asleep to the hairdryer the other day, gonna have to find a cheaper form of it though :haha:

The one thing that always works for me is to walk around with George over one arm and I pat his back. He always stops crying when I do that and then eventually I can sit down and he will fall asleep. Another thing is I put some washing on and sit him in his swing in front of the machine :)

Its not just my little man that looks like an old man then lol. He has lost all of his hair on top and only has hair round the sides. Why do babies look so perfect when they are born and then they get spots and loose there hair. George is still gorgeous but its just a shame bless him.

:haha: they just have to go through a weird stage i guess and are beautiful on the other side again!

we use white noise and swaddle her - she can go down without them but often wakes herself up shortly after but with the noise and swaddle she sleeps pretty soundly (she can still wake herself up but just not as often)

when she's having a real paddy cos she's too tired we give her a dummy too but she rarely has that now but went through a week or so where it was key

if it works we do it, when it stops working we'll stop doing it and find something new :)

we swaddle and use the app sleep and relax with brown noise and heartbeat. with that combo she even sleeps in her crib, tho we put her head in the corner so she feels it closer to her.

George tends to fal asleep during his bottle or on one of us once he has finished it and we are burping him while cuddling him into our chests....then he wakes up as soon as we put him down! We tried a dummy but he often wakes up as soon as it falls out. Basically George loves to be on the move and will only sleep when he wants too!!!!!

Got the little man weighed today and he is now at 10lbs 2 oz, the health visitor said we should not let him sleep through the night and if he doesnt wake himself we should wake him after 5 hours....not sure I think this is a good idea....he eats lots in the day and wees loads so I know he is getting plenty.

Another busy day of visitors tomorrow...............anyone else starting to crave some time alone? xxxxxxxxxxxx
