April Mummies 2011

I've got this:
https://www.amazon.com/Philips-Bott...=baby-products&ie=UTF8&qid=1314988481&sr=1-51

for Rosie. We haven't used to sippy top yet but soon I think. I gave her the bottle with the handle and 2oz of water in it. She had fun fun fun playing with it but didn't swallow the water- just let it dribble out- love it though!

Aww thanks Crazy. I know we can still have kids, just feeling kind of old to start all over again :)

Thanks for the sippy cup tips ladies and for the link Sam. We use Born Free bottles and I know they sell handles and a sippy cup adapter for them so that's great idea, I think I'll pick some up next time we're out. That way she can try bottle with handles and then eventually the real sippy cup top! I think I'll have my Mom give her some avocado tonight, will be her third go with it.

We bought a sweet potato that we're going to grill this weekend in foil and mash up for her to try next. After that probably try out the oatmeal. I don't want to push too much food on her, but more just want her to get used to the feel of it in her mouth and eating when Mom and Dad sit down to eat. We try to put her in the bumbo seat at the table with us when we're eating (unless she's happily playing somewhere else then of course we leave her and eat quickly!)

Gertrude, glad you have pickles surgery straightened out. The 6 hours with no milk does sound difficult but I'm sure you'll find a way to make it work. Is the surgery in the morning? How are you handling the thought of her having surgery?

the surgery doesn't bother me, the hospital doesn't (always wanted to be a nurse) but 6 hours with no milk gives me the fear and it's WEEKS away yet :D

We're also going very slowly with foods and she feeds herself. She's not eating enough to substitute her milk. I bought the attachments to make her bottle into sippy cups. I put the handles on a couple weeks ago and let her play with the bottle. She just threw it :haha: I worry about her getting used to a faster flow with the sippy cup so I haven't had her drink milk out of it. She already gets impatient sometimes with my flow.

Today is our last day on the island. I've spent nearly the entire time trying to figure out a way to live here. It's so beautiful plus it would be a lot closer to my family. I think I'm going to be keeping an eye out for jobs for us in the northwest. I miss it so much. I'm pretty sure there aren't jobs with the pay we're used to for us here. It would be hard too because FIL doesn't fly so it would be just us going out there to visit or they would have to drive or take the train. Guess it's my fault for falling in love with a midwest guy!

Stacey, sounds like a great week you're planning! Isis LOVED sweet potato. We gave her a sweet potato fry yesterday and she shoved it in her mouth. It's the first time she kinda gagged because she shoved it in too fast.

Dana, would you want to meet in Madison next weekend? does that work?

Gertrude, can you give Pickle water during that 6 hours? it might help a little.

So first my husband got sick, then Aleena got sick, now I'm sick, GREAT!
:(

Naima, sorry you're all sick! Seems to be never ending here. Hope you feel better soon!

Gertrude i had to starve the babies for 12 hours when they were sick, they werent that bad just had to keep them very occupied. im sure pickle will be just fine xx

Well ladies... I have left my husband. ... it was hard and I'm scared of doing this on my own but hopefully he isn't all talk on wanting to be there for her. Also yesterday was my little brothers birthday. He turned 6. And in more sad news please think of my friend- her son died in a car accident the other day. He went to school with my brother. So so sad.

Aw :hugs: Sam. That's a brave thing to do. You & Rosie will make a great team. xxx

Sam, :hugs: you and Rosie will be great! Hopefully he stays in Rosie's life. Sorry about all the other sadness!

No doubt the hardest thing I've had to do so far in life. He showed up again after I got home and spent the last gas in his car to come talk with me more then he left. He told me he is going to fight for Rosie once he gets his disability check because he wont be working so he will be the best home for her. I said he can see her any time and he said that he was still gonna fight. K dude. I wanted to tell him that if he tries to get nasty I can too but I'd rather not. Ill just save it for if he does.

:hugs: Sam. I think you'll find that you're stronger than even you knew. We're all here for you.

Big hugs Sam, you will be amazing just you and Rosie. Us women are strong and you will be just fine. There is no way he will get custody over Rosie xx

You are already showing your strength and wisdom. You responded so perfectly to that situation by realizing that right now emotions are high and things are said that aren't necessarily meant. Rosie is so lucky to have you for her Mommy and hopefully her Daddy will be able to be a steady presence in her life with an arrangement that is agreeable for all.

Sam, I don't know what to say other than, we're all here for you! I hope he doesn't get nasty but many custody battles do!
