gertrude. Hope that you start to feel happier soon. We're always here for you even if all you want to do is vent.
Gem, the others are right, I know you're sick of doctors but a simple blood test can let you know if you have an overactive thyroid. It's a simple fix if that's the case. Also, try to eat lots of protein, yogurt, fish, meat, chicken, etc. The fatty food should help but the protein will help you build and maintain muscle. Good luck with the new guy, really hope this works out for you!!
Danielle, I've been holding strong so far on the diaper front, we have 18 and that seems to be enough to wash every 2nd or 3rd day. She's still in sposies 3 days a week so that helps to stretch our diapers further.
We're going away for 3 nights/4 days next weekend and leaving Lizzie with my parents. I know she'll be fine but just worry about her needing comforting and me not being there to let her breast feed which usually calms her down right away. I know my parents have adapted to find other ways of comforting her and she responds to them just fine, just being a silly mommy who is going to miss her baby a lot! I know it's good for all of us though to have some time apart, just wish it was 2 nights instead of 3 nights. Also trying to plan my pumping schedule so I have enough fresh milk to send a long with her for the long weekend. I have 32 bottles worth frozen so that shoudl be plenty, just want to make sure she gets a good amount of fresh as well since the frozen may be lacking some nutrients. And of course my Mom has a tub of formula if for some reason she decides to feast while I'm away!
We tried out the baby oatmeal mixed with breast milk again last night and she loved it! I made it a little thinner than last time and I think that was the key. She fed herself mostly and managed to get every other spoonful somewhere near her mouth. We gave her a nice warm bath after to wash it out of her hair and ears and toes! I sent some with my Mom to give to her today at lunch, hoping we can get her to take a bit more food to hopefully fill her up a bit more, especially in the evening. She slept pretty well last night, only woke once I think, so it might have helped.
I really need to try putting Lizzie down to sleep when she's sleepy but still awake, I normally nurse her until she's sound asleep then put her in the pack n play. Lately she's been waking up 30 min later, she cries until picked up and settled for about 2 min, then goes right back down. She did that twice last night within an hour of going to sleep. I bet it has to do with the fact that she falls asleep on my lap and wakes up all alone. For those that have sucessfully put their baby to sleep while still slightly awake, any tips? Do you stay in the room while they fuss for a bit or do you keep a hand on their back or what?
Sorry to those who are feeling poorly or have sick babies, hope you all feel better soon. Cold season is starting up here, definitely not looking forward to that.
Off to drink my nursing tea, need to make sure I have a good supply going into my (pumping) vacation!
