Since I had so many helpful comments about Teddy I thought i'd ask you all about April! I'm not pregnant but I am the kind of person who likes to have a name early on in pregnancy. So....

What do you all think of April for a baby girl? (She wouldn't be born in April hopefully, the earliest should be May and that's if I become pregnant straight away!)

I like it  But I do think it would be a little strange if the baby wasn't born in April.

A name like May has kind of spread outside its month now, but I don't think April has. To me, it'd be like calling a girl Tuesday when she was born on a Saturday.

However, if you really like it, you could always use it as a middle name maybe.

I actually think it would be weird to name a kid April if they were born in April. I don't know why, it just seems repetitive and strange somehow.

I'm not terribly fond of month/season names, but I do think that April is the prettiest and most normal of them (I knew two Aprils growing up so it feels more like a real name to me). The only thing that really bugs me is that people always try to find nicknames (and I like nicknames), and April doesn't really lend itself to any other than 'Ape' or 'Apes'... which isn't very flattering.

I really like it!

April has a lot of significance to me and my DH - it is the month we got married, first met etc.

This baby would have been called April had she not been born in April! (She arrived on 29th, I need to update my ticker)

My dd is April, and she was not born in that month.

April is a beautiful name :)

I like April. I would use the name regardless of what month it was though :)

I also like it. I work with an Aprill (yes she spells with 2 L's). I like that it differentiates from the month.

April is beautiful, I would only use it if my baby was NOT born in April.

Really pretty name. But my friend called her little girl April even though she was born in May. She now gets asked all the time " why did you call her April when she was born in May?" So be prepared for that. But I wouldn't let it put you off.

This

My oldest is called Holly and I getvwascshe born at Xmas?

Itsca nice name if you like it use it

Sorry not drunk typing !! Posted before checking

Sorry, i'm not a fan of the name April. Plus I think it's odd to use if not born in April. Like naming a baby Summer even if she's born in February, for example. Doesn't work for me. The only April I've ever known is a middle-aged woman, very unattractive. So - that probably influences my perception of the name. I really can't picture it on a cute little girl.

To me saying it's weird to name your kid April if they weren't born in April is like saying it's weird to name your kid Ruby if they weren't born in July (birthstone) or Violet if they weren't born in a field of violets. :haha: Like why does there have to be a connection?

I'm surprised by the fact there appears to be such a diversity of opinion as to whether it should be used if born April or not! It seems like people feel one way or the other.

The one April I know was born in August.

My eldest daughter is called Ivy and I get the 'was it because she was born in December?' question all the time. She was coincidentally born near christmas but we had that name picked out for years before!

I don't know why I feel that way but I think an April born in January would be funny x

I'm bias! That's my older sisters name. I like it :)
*Who was born in August ;)

I love April. Was a name I thought about when pregnant. I wouldn't Care what month it was born in.

I love this name! And totally wouldn't name her that if she was born in April anyway. :flower:
