I love it but am sure it's thought of more as a girls name these days. Opinions?

Its my OH's name but his is double EE. Its definatly a unisex name

I wouldn't find it odd if I heard the name was used for a boy, but I'd probably consider it more a female name.

It's mine and hubby's favourite at the moment (love the nn Ash)

My brother is called ashley he is 21 everyone calls him ash now but my mum said it was a popular boys name and there wasnt many girls called ashley when he was younger. I love the name!

id say its unisex, i couldnt say its more for one sex than the other... although when spelt Ashley i'd assume its a boy. And either Ashlee or Ashleigh for a girl

Depends where you live - in the US definently a girls name - it was a soap opera character in the early 80's and sprouted a huge crop of female Ashleys.
In the UK unisex but seems to me to be more male Ashleys.

^^WSS-It def is a girl's name in the USA although I remember Scarlett in Gone with the Wind being obsessed with a man named Ashley so

I agree with this x

I see it more as a girls name now to be honest! It's still nice for a boy though xx

I guess it depends on where you live. Here in the U.S. it's a girls name and if heard no one would ever consider it to be a boy. A little boy with that name here would be endlessly teased for it. I don't know anything about name trends in other places though. being American I guess the name just rubs me the wrong way for a boy

I would have to agree. In the US it's ONLY a girl's name -- so it doesn't sound masculine to me at all. :nope:

Ashton would be the male version -- nn. Ash <---- very nice!

I have a cousin Ashley - And i LOVED gone with the wind.. Didn't know many Ashley's growing up always thought it a boys name.. :)

My brother is an Ashley, I love it and would chose it for a child of mine if it wasnt my brothers name.

My brothers name is Ashley & my OHS best friend male is also called Ashley. I think its a lovely boys name x

Not to be a jerk, but your setting your kid up to get made fun of once he goes to school. I have a fairly unique name, and I've met more femaies with the name than males. Its only in the last few years have I started to see some boys with my name.

Don't you want to give your kid every advantage possible? Why set them up like that? Thats putting a big "kick me" sign on their back, basically. Yeah, they may be strong enough to get over it, but why do it in the first place?

I know 3males called Ashley and asked them if they ever got bullied or made fun off, they all said no!! My brother loves his name. I think of it as more of a boys name anyway!!

I live in the US and I went to school with a boy with the middle name Ashley..his first name was Charles
