Asking for holidays whilst on maternity leave, cheeky?

Hi, I am on maternity leave (due to end in 3 months) and have just asked for my summer holidays. The reason I asked so early and before I go back to work is the 2 weeks I asked for is the only 2 weeks my partner can get.
The 2 weeks I have asked for is the 2 weeks that one of my colleagues always gets off every year. So we both got our holidays agreed and no-one else is allowed that time off. But I am now being bitched about at work as I asked for holidays even though I am not at work. I am now stressing out about this and it is affecting my son. I am really not looking forward to going back. How can I put this right? Do you think I was I cheeky to ask for my holidays?

you are entitled like everyoine else. You need to ask so that you can have the time off you need. Doint feel bad. I expect if they are the type to bitch then they will be bitching about something else next week. But i worry about things as well and let it effect me. But you are 100% in the right. Keep tellling yourself that and go and give your son a cuddle lol

I think you are perfectly entitled.. it may be mat leave but you still work there.. and I would guess that most of your colleagues would have done exactly the same thing in your position.

I guessing those that bitched are just annoyed they didn't ask first and they just wish they had beaten you to those dates.

Don't feel guilty. I think they all would have done the same.

Not at all - we have booked our summer holiday for August and I am not back until March and I will have to tell them that I am having that timeoff
