****August 2010 Babies & Buddies**** - 108 Babies Born

Hi everyone ! :hi:I would love to join your group! I am due August 23rd with my first baby and have a pink bump!:pink: I have been lurking for a while but was scared to join because I am high risk but sooo far everything has been going pretty smoothly and bubs is healthy! Is anyone else considered high risk because of an autoimmune disease? Just curious because I have Addison's Disease and am being followed super closely as I am dependent on a lot of medications, just curious if anyone is going through anything similiar. I have signed up for birthing classes but they do not start until July 6th, I am super excited but I think my husband is even more , lol, he's already practicing his breathing, hahaha what a nerd:haha:

MrsP, Jasmine and I are doing great... thanks! How are you and Eleanor? I can't believe I somehow missed that you are having a baby too!!!! And only due 2 weeks before me!

Melissa- I never did any prenatal classes with Jasmine... and I haven't done any with this baby! LOL.... We managed just fine and to be honest I just read and talk to others about baby/parenting related things. I hate labels too, so reading certain methods is usually out of interest only.

Hollywoodmum glad someone else is going the route I'm going! We're not bad mums or mums to be, like guppy said it's a personal choice!

Welcome savycait, I am not high risk... there might be one or two on here that are but I'm not sure.

God. Girls reading about all your classes n baby clothes ready to be washed and put away, makes me feel REALLY unprepared. This is what I have. . .

Double buggy (icandy pear) from previous kids. Needs 2new hoods n a good scrub lol.. x

Cot... no mattress

3 outfits that were prezzies
Dummy
2 blankets

I think I need to go shopping. I gt a slap on the wrist from my friend for not applying for my sure start grant yet. Oops.
And I won't b doing any classes. Never have n just don't feel the need really. Although listening to how unprepared I am u think id need to lol xx

Just apologizing if any of you ladies were offended by the whole wash your clothes, rinse your food thing. I didn't mean that at all- thats just how i was raised thats all. You'll are/going to be such great mamas, and it is a personal choice :friends:

Hi ladies,

Holywood - Im washing most of the clothes as the majority of what i already have is from DD#1 and has been sitting in my mums loft for the last year lol...

Melissa - I was offered classes but im not taking them either. Although there is a breastfeeding workshop in July i think i will go to that. BF didnt go too well for me last time, DD had a tight tongue tie.

SavyCait - Hi hun!! Im not high risk but welcome and im glad everything seems to be going well for you :)

also ladies im confused - i dont think i have read all the posts regarding expressing before baby is born but i didnt do it last time and i thought your 'proper' milk didnt come in for a few days after baby was born and the (colostrum? i think) is what they need in the first couple of days? no?

hope everyone is well and doing something fun on the bank holiday weekend :) im waiting in for my new tumble drier :) lol xxx

Good morning mamas!!!

Hope everyone is well this fine morning. Raining like a good en here. Mart is snoring away and Brian too, good job i have this site else i would be going crazy!!!

So hen party tonight. It's Mart's bro who is getting married so i'm attending the brides party. Now i don't mind her as such it's the other two wags that i really dislike and they dislike me. I would really rather not go but that is not fair to the bride. I really hope they don't sit me next to them. I've got my escape plan sorted though. Eat meal then 30-40min later diabetes is playing up and back pains are killing me!!!

I've washed bubs clothing and blankets but i'm mainly following what my mum did for me. As for food, i don't wash that much but Mart does.

Hope everyone has a good saturday

xxx

secret to scratch mitts and booties is to buy a washing net and some plastic pegs that way you can peg em together and put in the net and even if they escape the peg they still are contained! My mum told me this after we had given in and started using the babygros from next with inbuilt scratch mits!

Fab idea hon, I normally find mine all fall to the front of the machine and sit in the rubber. I like your thinking.

Aww MrsP that sounds like a nice thing meeting up with the other mummies :D

As for me Im off to Kent later on this afternoon with OH to visit his parents, I love going down there as we get looked after and spoilt and fed yummy food :happydance:

Enjoy your weekend hon, weather here is supposed to be not too bad.

MrsP, Mart is out of the doghouse now. He took me out today and brought me lunch followed byt the biggest crepe covered in nutella, fresh strawberries and cream!!! Gosh it was soooooo good! He knows now never say anything like that to me again. He said sorry last night but i didn't speak to him till this morning!

So finally found a top for a hen party i got tomorrow night, from Peacocks of all places?!?! No hiding the bump for me anymore though, it's out and proud!

Mart actually has the bank holiday weekend off for the first time in forever so we really don't know what to do. He will probably wanna sleep but i say if the weathers nice we are off out!

Bump was abit sore today walking around the shops, felt really heavy. Anyone else feel like this????

Still no phone call from the HIP people!!!! I bet any money they have lost my form!!! Tossers!!!!!

xxx

Oh what a good boy. Hope he has learnt his lesson. Peacocks is great for maternity, I mean value wise dont you think. Hope you enjoy the hen night, whats the plan of action?

hi everyone :)
hope ur all ok!

havent been on in a while... my laptop takes foreverrrrr to come on!!

jus been reading about expressing & stuf.. wel my midwife said i could start now.. so she must not think it brings on labour :S

hope ur all ok!

xx

Hey Aimee, nice to see you back. Hope you and your princess are well x

Hi girls!
Anyone sign up for any classes, or am i way too early for that?
We just finished up our Bradley Method classes 2 weeks ago (its a 12 week class).
We signed up for our waterbirth class and birth center tour for July 22nd. And the breastfeeding class and "Happiest Baby on the Block" class we also signed up for (In June) the only offerings before i could potentially go into labor was June 8th (HBB class) and June 28th for the breastfeeding class. Im very excited! Hopefully the DH and I can remember everything though! :dohh:

WOW Guppy, I dont even know if we have that many classes available to us even if I did want to do them. I didnt do any Antenatal with Eleanor as the classes were full and I tbh I wasnt prepared to pay the price they chatge for the NCT ones here.

:dohh:

Glad to hear you are both well.

I think thats all there was between the girls birthday too isnt it? We are good thanks, although E is begining to test the boundaries, but I cant complain she really is a good girl and coming on in leaps and bounds. She is due to start play group just after her birthday which I think will do her good. x

Hope the tumble dryer man doesnt take all day about it there is nothing worse is there.

AFM - just having an hour for my self, Si has taken E for her swimming lesson. Should get washed and dressed ready for their return.

Hoping to have a busy productive weekend. Hoping to get most of the main work done in the hallway ready for painter and then some outside work on the house, poor Si has a to do list long as his arm. Its not my fault I blame my friend Nesting!!

I however need to paint all the new stair parts ready for my dad to come over and put up and fingers crossed my furniture will be home tomorrow and then Monday I can play baby things!!!

Hope you all have a good bank holiday x

I think I will give any baby clothes a quick wash when I get them, though that's jus cos I love the smell of comfort! As for ironing that's something I rarely do, the only things I iron are the odd work shirt and then I normally get husband to do it when he's doing his work shirts cos he's much better at it, I seem to end up with more creases!

As for fruit and veg I do try to wash it cos we eat a lot of it and pesticides bother me (more than dirt) but it's such a bore and wet lettuce makes my sandwichhes soggy!

I'm off to see SATC 2 this afternoon can't wait! Then got wedding tomorrow (will be my first sober wedding since I was about 16 lol!) I bought a gorgeous Coast dress last week just praying it still fits or I'll be making last min dash to shops tomorrow morning! I wasn't showing for ages and now past couple of weeks my belly has popped from
nowhere and growing fast!

Hi guys, My name is Claire and I am due on the 27th of August, and in team yellow. I have 2 sweet weeks left at work then i can kick back and relax. :coffee:

I've basically just scanned the last page of posts to get an idea of what people are talking about, I have a drawer that i've put hand me downs and new clothes into and when i'm off I am going to wash it all, just so i know it's all fresh and ready to go and as someone else mentioned I love the smell of fresh washing.

We are going to go to ante natal classes, but i don't think mine are available to me untill July and my Midwife books me in and she hasn't mentioned it yet.

How's everyones pregnancy going? Mine was a bit rough to start with i was in hospital for 3 days with Hyper emesis, then i had a week off coz i fainted at work, got to about 16 weeks and it all lifted and now so far so good.:flower: I currently am suffering from Piles:blush: (Sorry if TMI but i guessed this would be a sharing kinda page!!) any tips for them anyone else suffering? And sleep i just can't get comfy at night.:nope:

I have to go back to hospital next week and have a scan at 28 weeks as at my 20 week scan one of bubbas kidneys was slightly dialated, anyone else had this? I was told it's nothing to worry about they just want to check on it.

I actually have quite alot of bits we started buying quite early once we knew everything was ok each time we went to Tescos or something we've picked up some bottles/nappies/wipes/ anything thats on special offer. We have our pram we don't have any nursery furniture.

But as my boss said to me yesterday after i had a mini break down at work over being hot tired fed up and generally slightly over whelmed by the up coming event. Worse case scenario and the baby comes tomorrow, As long as the it has somewhere to lie it's head and someone to love it, it doesn't matter what you have or haven't got.:happydance::happydance:

Hope you're all well and coping in this heat

MrsP, Jasmine is def testing boundaries too... But she isn't too bad! It is so amazing how much they learn, I love it. Do you know what your having???

Hello Hello Hello!!!!
Sorry for yet another few days absense but I was busy sleeping most of thursday lol, and then yesterday I had such a busy and enjoyable day I hardly had chance to sit down let alone turn my laptop on lol!
TBH I think did a little too much yesterday as I am supposed to be resting but It was a fun day, and I am paying for it through aches and pains today x
We started by heading to good old Tesco and did a mega shop, then We got the bus into Belfast with some great friends and their baby girl. Did a heck of a lot of shopping and then headed for Frankie and Benny's for a massive three course dinner! haha! After that we whizzed back to the Barracks in a taxi and then channged and headed to watch a Rock band that were playing in our little Families bar in the camp! Needless to say by the time we got home I was exhausted tho, and suffering from some pains in my pelvis! but it was wrth it!
AND my lovely hubby made me a cuppa tea and snuggled me up in bed and even let me rest my leg on him to ease my hips hurtin in bed cos Riley has pinched my maternity Pillow for his bed hahaha!

OOOOO I almost forgot! We ordered our Pram yesterday! We have gone fpr the OBABY Zezu Pramette in Black with a white interior to the hood! There is a natching car seat available too that clicks straight onto the frame and we'll be getting that next month!
I am SO excited! We have ordered bubs a wee Moses basket matress for when we have it in Pram mode as the liner didnt look overly padded, and we wanna make sure he or she is all comfy and snug!

SO now we have
8 New Bibs (plus all rileys old ones)
a sterilizer
8 bottles
a breast pump
new vests
and a heck of a lot of Rileys newborn clothes taht were hardly even worn!!!

Was wondering is everyone bothering with a Moses Basket?? I am gunna get a reclining rocker/bouncer chair and wasnt sure If I would bother with the moses basket or not!

Anyways, hope everyone is well, and a HUGE welcome to all the new ladies!
Jetters I am glad to hear baby is going strong, I get kicked like that too, lol, I am dreading how hard the kicks will be in a few more weeks! but its reassuring after the scares hey?

With fruit/veg washing, I tend to wash most but if I am honest I dont wash everything! and a lot of the foods that are "washed and ready to cook" I dont bother washing even though my MW tells me too! saying that I am the one who scoffed a Brie and Bacon Baguette the other week haha! It is personal choice with washing etc I think and we're all different hey! I remember washing EVERYTHING before Riley was born but I think it was just part of my crazed cleaning and nesting madness haha! after he was born I did usually put new things on him without washing lol!

Right after that I think I shall go make some lunch! yumyum! I am starving!

Catch you all later! Hope your weekends are going fab!
Nikki B x x x x x x x x

I have one that has been passed down through OH's family and i have on from DD#1 so i have 2 lol xxx

brownlieB and savycait welcome hunnies not long to go now

i feel over prepd i've got my bags packed and i'm ready to go got 600 in a purse ready to get everything colour wise got a load of white stuff to start me off cot swinging crib sheets cream crib set steriliser nappies etc only gotta get a bouncy chair pushchair and clothes in colour so i'm well prepd up lol

ok so i just set fire to the kitchen had some toast didn't turn the grill off closed the door then wacked the oven on hubby managed to save the day i'm a knob i told you preg brain was taking over:dohh:

i swear preg brain is mad ay?

re garding the washing of things.... i personally do.... but , this is only cos i like the smell haha ... it wouldnt bother me at all thoughi f iw asnt able to and had to putthings on the bundle new from the packet....

how is everyone today??? i sorted my bedroom this morning, and cleaned up my pram, and popped it in my en suite upstairs ( theres lot of wasted space in there, so itsbrill for storing stuff) with a towel over it to stop it gettng dusty, popped the travels ystem in there too coveredup.. and my moses basket is in my bedroom with a towel over it all cleaned up and ready..... i am very lucky that i still have all my stuff from my previous baby, well when i say "stuff" its only the pram, moses basket and bouncy chair, no clothes or anything were left, but i have accumalated alot fo stuff from friends etc, which has been a godsend... ( i did wash this stuff as alot of it had been stored in lofts etc)

i have all my stuff for my bag and baby bag for hosiptal, but havent actually packed it all yet....

was quite exciting looking at it all up there, but i still dont allow myself to see me at the end with a baby in my arms, i am so frightened something will go wrong, we have had such a long run of bad luck in the last few years....just my self preservation mechanism i suppose.. cos i went to pieces last year when i lost my baby... i suppose in my crazy mind, i think, well if i am prepared for something bad to happen, then if it does i am ready for it, and if it doesnt i will be the happiest (old) girl in the world.

anyway... hope everyone is having a god day, the rain has p'eed off here for now, looking lik eit mght me a reasonable afternoon...

Thats good then, I did have one with Riley but it got Damaged when we moved house! but he wasnt in it for long so still not sure if I will bother withg this wee one!

Nikki I just ordered one from Fisher Price, it has amazing reviews, it's pretty cheap and is a rocker/bassinet combo :)

Here is a link:

https://www.fisher-price.com/fp.aspx?st=2002&e=demo&pid=51903&pcat=bgpy

wow melissa, I have never seen one of those but I am definately going to consider getting it! I never really have been one for bassinets, but with our house situation I think I will have no choice... So that thing would be perfect! I also really like how it would keep their head elevated, that is really good for colic and digestion etc.

I was researching on possibly getting a bassinet but I didn't love any of them and most of them had poor reviews, then finally I came across this one and I read all the reviews and their amazing and I even went to amazon.com and read the reviews there and still amazing. It also meets safety standards for bassinets, it's pretty much exactly what I was looking for!!! And the price is right. I had to order it from Fisher Price though in the states, so with shipping and exchange it's more like $75-80 but still a good deal!

ya im not into bassinets either, Jasmine slept in her crib from a newborn and that is what I prefer.

That thing would be handy for taking around to family dinners and stuff though too.
