Wow, that is great! Good for her. I think that some dissability's can be more challenging. But, I have a friend who had a son who was so disabled he was basically in a vegetative state. He had to be tube fed, disimpacted everyday, he had to be sedated. He died when he was 6 years old. She loved him so much, he was everything to her. She used to say that it was unfair to say he was disabled, but rather he was a blessing and he just experienced the world differently. She has two other sons, that are healthy. Miss you Nate.

Thank you ladies, guess I hadn't thought about it being different in areas too.

Here in Barnsley, it is not offered as standard with the dating scan, you have to 'opt in' and in fact they don't even do it in Barnsley, they only offer the blood tests, they would have to refer me to Sheffield if I did want the scan.

I would probably have done it, just because I had read that you have it done and that was that lol, but DH said why do it as we wouldn't terminate. I am a bit ocd about knowing things and being prepared so I would probably have wanted to do it still but sort of see DH's point, and time is ticking on now so I don't think we are.

I just wondered if I was the only one not having it lol.......thank you all for your answers. So nice having lots of ladies at your fingertips here to find things out from isn't it? I don't have a wide circle of pregnant friends, or friends with children, so no one else really to talk to about it.

:flower:

Evening girls,

We have a nuchal/dating scan on Friday then they do bloods and from that they give you a percentage of different things/changes of a child with disabilities.

Feeling much better this week and sickness is subsiding, my stomach thinks its a bottomless pit and I am forever hungry. Just trying to stick to fruit, must be on about 10 aday! lol!

Cant believe nearly at the end of the first tri, don't remember it going this fast with Eleanor x

I'm with you Mrs. P on the 10-a-day and the overeating!!! at least it's mostly fruit :)

Got back from my nuchal scan! Everything looked great! :cloud9:
Baby measures exactly 11 weeks. I had a nuchal translucency of 1.4mm which puts us as low risk :happydance:
I wont get the blood results for more than a week though....I got 6 scan pictures but I can't post them until tomorrow (I'll scan them at work)!

Congrats holly, Lovely news x
What a touching story about your friends son Jasmak, I think Children with Disablilities are a blessing. I am a Children's nurse specialising in Children with "life limiting Illnesses" (thats the PC term). I adore every minute of working with the most severely effected children, as there is nothing in the world like the feeling you get when you see them reacting to your voice or therepies x

Anyway back to the point, I dont think I will get any tests done, and dont imagine it would make much difference to us should there be any indication of any problems at the 20 week scan. Saying that tho, it would be useful to have some preparations to your home prior to the birth to make things easier when you arrive home.

With me things are a little up and down. I have been back to the Severe sickness today and was so bad this morning that I threw up all my stomach contents untill there was nothing left. but I kept right on heaving anyway urrrgh!! (sorry if thats TMI).
I managed a little dinner and then I saw hubby's concotion that he'd made himself that for some reason just made me heave and that was the end of dinner lol.

I am still steadily losing weight but now at a slower rate than before. I hope it passes soon!

I had the swine flu Jab yesterday and My arm is so sore! I have a big hot lump on my arm that looks a little like someone has put a golf ball under the skin lol. Lovely!!!!

Hugs too all other August Mummy's to be!

That made my heart fill with joy! You must be a very special lady for God to have intrusted such a special DD to you!:hugs:

Holly congrats! and Melissa isn't it awesome?

I also has nuchal scan yesterday and it all went well, measurements were between 0.93 and 1.13 so all is great! The put me at 12 weeks with CRL and with head length 13 weeks but I know I am 12 and baby was 5.51cm so a good size for the age! I have scan pics in my journal if you care to look and by pics I mean one, the best one. I didn't get a good one of the nub so no guessing for me :(

Still have a pretty flat tummy to, I want my bump already!

well my head is just splitting i don't like it.
Mrcy sorry to hear your hubbies dinner didn't appeal, gutted you lost yours!! Are those anti-emetics not helping then?
I had a hot lump in my arm for about a week after swine flu jab, but couldn't even moan and complain about it as otherwise people would have wanted to know why i'd had it and i hadn't told anyone then that i was pregnant!
holly and others, glad the scans went well!!

Congrats!! Happy for your results but more importantly so exciting that you got to see your baby and get new pics. I am 11 weeks today to and I have my next appointment next wednesday. I cannot wait to see our little angel. I really hope he/she is active and we can see him/her moving all around.
:happydance:
I keep saying him/her because I refuse to call my baby an "it". Secretly though... I have a feeling he/she will be a she :cloud9:

And by the way.... I am so thrilled to be 11 weeks today. Inching closer to the end of my first trimester and I am SOOOO very happy.

Glad the scans went well Ladies.

I have to have the tests as my son showed signs of Downs when he was in my tummy we decided to keep him if that was the case but luckily he didn't have it in the end but I can't face another pregnancy of not knowing. It was the hardest thing ever.I'd love a child no matter what it was like.6 heads or 13 toes. That is my child and so be it x

Head still splitting and today sciatica really bad ALREADY!

So today I'm feeling a bit better, but still very gaggy!

Eoz hope your scan and numbers come out good!

Glad the other ladies here that had scans went well! It is such an exciting time! I just laughed so hard watching the little one moving around so much and seeing the arms and legs OMG all I can say is WOW!

Hope your all well!

Yeah its pretty amazing! I didn't get to see the baby move at all as I was only able to look once she got all the measurements. I have a bladder infection so it was pretty painful holding a full bladder lol! But I'm so glad everything worked out!
Let me know how your scan goes! Can't wait to see pics!
