Baby and Bump Book Club!

^ Try going several years between reading the books! it's been so long since a new one's been released that I've forgotten a lot

:happydance:

I voted for once every two weeks, and I think we should just have one person suggest a book at a time, every two weeks and post up a link to it and a brief summary then people choose if they want to read it or wait for the next one. :)

About my book obsession....

Favorite Authors: David Starky, Phillipa Gregory, Alison Weir

Favorite Book: Henry VIII by Margaret George

Recently Read: The Time Travellers Guide To Medieval England by Ian Mortimer

I can't remember the last time I read a fiction book, so this will be good :)

I love antonia fraser as well

be nice to read some other books that arent just chicklit lol. I dont know how good i will when baby is born tho  But i can give it ago xxx

The only problem on voting for the book we read is we may tend to vote for the tipe we prefer instead of a wider virarity of books and some peoples choices may not get picked thus making it not a fair way of doing it.

Maybe instead of the voting then all the members should submit a book they would like the group to read, and then whoever's running it picks one out of a hat until we've read them all? That way its fair, everyone's book gets read and it should be a pretty diverse selection.

Sounds good to me. I'm joining because I want to force myself to read something outside of my comfort zone so this works.

:haha: Thats not so much an issue for me because I will ready literally anything, although I have found myself lately sticking the same old type of books and its getting a bit.... predictable?

I love this idea :happydance:
I'll read anything and everything and always open to book recommendations.
A bit about me - I'm Vickie, 26 and marrying my OH in 6 days and our 1st baby is due in 20 weeks!
I'm a nurse but not working at the moment because of SPD :( Plenty of time for reading though :winkwink: Some of my favourite books include The Lovely Bones, My Sisters Keeper, One Child, The Time Travellers Wife, My Best Friends Girl, The Girls, Water For Elephants, A Tree Grows In Brooklyn, The Book Thief...... loads!
I usually read about 2 books a week but been getting through 4-5 whilst I've been off :)

Good idea Lea

So good to get so much interest!

Some great ideas on how to select a book as well. I hear what you are sarlying lozzie about fairness.

To start with, why don't I post a thread on book suggestions for the group and people could put down some ideas - just to get things moving, else we could get bogged down with logistics, democracy before we even start! We could leave the suggestion thread open till Wednesday and then decide how we are going to do things and what out first book is going to be. What about makins the second week in February the week we discuss the first book?

What do you all think?

Your tastes echo mine. I do love reading, but voted for "meeting" monthly as between working full time and taking care of a soon-to-be 1 year old, I don't have as much time to indulge as I would like

I will read just about anything - my tastes are VERY varied.

My favourite books are Roots by Alex Haley, A Suitable Boy by Vikram Seth, and The Lord of the Rings.

My name is Anna, and I'm a bookworm! :haha:

I like the book names in the hat idea and everyone suggest a book each to put in the hat

I have no idea which book I would suggest though
Better start thinking about that one!

Can I join too? I'm Lesley and love reading! In my past life I was a 2 book a week girl but not so much time now. I voted for fortnightly for that reason.

I like most genres but am a sci- fi phobic (much to DH horror!).

Hi ladies do you mind if I join your club ??

My name is Sabrina and I love reading, I will give anything a try once but I love Horror, sci-fi, thrillers and real life :)

My fave authors are Stephen King, Thomas Harris and Dan brown.

My fave books are, The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown (love all his books) Misery and The green mile by Stephen King (love all his books to ) At the minute I am reading Ant and Dec and I have to admit it is shaping up to be on my fave list, so funny I actually laugh out loud *blush*

Oh I love those books that make you actually laugh... They're great :D

I have just posted a book suggestions thread to get us started...we can decide on how we want to decide things after that.

xxx
