DD1 is Orlagh (Or-la) and gets called Orlag, Oola, Ola, Orlaw...

DD2 is Ettalie (Eh-ta-lee) - I thought this would be easy to pronounce but apparently not! She's been called all sorts!

My DD is Éabha pronounced Ava.....its the irish spelling which considering we live in Ireland you would think there wouldnt be much of a problem but NO!! MIL is too bloody lazy to spell the childs name correctly & spells it Ava all the time!!

not so much pronnounciation but isabelle gets called isabella all the time....even by family members

at christmas and her birthday the amount of cards that said "to isabella" were unreal .

even her own great nan and grandad put isabella.... ive given up correcting them so forever she will be isabella

So far we've had no trouble with Riley's name, save the great grandmothers throwing a collective hissy fit over us naming our daughter "a boy's name". Lol, I thought all three of them were going to band together and disown us! Oh, unless we count the automated appointment reminder at the pediatrician's office, which insists on pronouncing her "really". Hahahah!

I am certain that her middle name, Kathryn, will cause her trouble, if for nothing else than the spelling. We've already had Catherine, Katherin, and Catheryn. Odd part is that all of those are pronounced differently, Riley's is KATH-ryn, two syllables, and the others are all Kath-er-ine, three.

If you don't mind I'm sure he won't. I had the same feeling with Xander but I actually met a grown up Xander when my Lo was 3 months old and he loved his name, almost thought it was entertaining correcting people on how to pronounce and spell it! My Xander was only the second he'd met!

Not so much with the pronunciation but we get a lot of different spellings, we knew Laeyla (Lay-la) would be a 'problem' as we spelt it diffrently. When she was in hospital they kept calling her Lee-la or Lie-la. So far for the spellings of Maisie we have had: Maisy, Maisey, Maizie, Maysie, Mazee. It annoys me when as a pp said they have received something from us with the correct spelling. My name is Emma and I used to have an aunt say and spell it Emmha .

I'd have got your kids' names right, but then again I was born in France. I've had to contend with a lot of French family names lol. My dad is Gérard but the amount of people that call him Jerr-ard or even Gerald is ridiculous.

My husband is Philip but when we went to France all my relatives insisted on calling him Philippe haha it was funny.

On the other side, my mam is Polish. She actually went whole hog and changed her entire name because nobody could ever pronounce Wladyslava. She used to get called Gladys in school apparently. She's called Dyann (Diane) now lol.

Kind of... my LO is called Emilia, but soooo many people call her Amelia. Its fine when we go to Poland as Emilia is a well known name there (DH is Polish) but over here no-one gets it lol. Really...not hard...like Emily but with ia and the end instead of y

don't think I've ever heard of another Emilia. I'm not sure she did any other songs worth remembering either lol. One hit wonder I reckon. I always liked it though.



As for my own kids' names:

my DD is Lydia Fay. My aunt ALWAYS writes Faye instead of Fay but at least it's pronounced the same.

DS1 is Alexander Joshua. Nobody seems to have issues with this one, which is fine.

My DS2 is Jason Matthew. My uncle has this weird mental block and seems to think his name is Josh for some bizarre reason. I've pulled him up on it so many times. He even writes Josh on birthday cards and everything! He actually told me that he thinks Josh is short for Jason


My own name, Natalie, is fine, but nobody every knows how to pronounce my middle names (Jeanne Antonina). I get Jane or Jean a lot, and Antonia
