Baby on Board Badge - would you?

df got me one of those when he was working at a tfl site once there so cute. id use it if i went on the tube xx

iv never herd of them and im from london but yeah sounds good, why not:Dx

London is commuting heaven (or hell) so I definitely think it is a good idea to get one of those. We walk or use the car so wouldn't need one but in London they are a great idea, there is alot of pushing and shoving.

I wouldn't give my seat up to anyone who wasn't elderly or pregnant so if I saw you and didn't know you were pregnant I wouldn't give you my seat but if I saw you wearing one of those stickers I would give up my seat (if I wasn't pregnant myself ofcourse!) so I think they WILL change some peoples behaviour.

Ive just got one of these! I just went to one of the main stations and asked and they gave them to me there. As I look very young (22 but look about 16!) I find people give me really dirty looks when Im on a bus and Im not the first person to offer my seat to the elderly, so Im hoping the badge might help that.

But also Im 23 weeks pregnant and Ive barely got a bump so I just look a bit podgy and unless I told people (or were to wear a badge!) people wouldnt be any the wiser, so instead of me being grumpy about them not offering their seat Im just making them aware, and then I can be grumpy if they dont offer their seat! It can be a little embarressing wearing it (theyre bigger than I thought lol) but I just pin it to my bag :)

I feel exactly like you.

I am 23 and got told twice on one week that I look under 18 and then told I looked 15! My bump isnt huge but I just want to raise awareness to people. I think I will get one! xx

I've worked in London for 10 years, 8 or so years of which I've commuted in every day. Fortunately I am now home-based so only need to commute in once or twice a week, but I wouldn't feel comfortable with wearing a badge to indicate that I'm pregnant.

I can't put my finger on why I don't feel comfortable with wearing one myself, despite trying to figure it out. I wouldn't judge other women for wearing one though and think you do whatever makes you feel happy and comfortable :)

I commute in to London every day using the overground and underground systems and I've been wearing my Baby on Board badge since I was 10 weeks or so - I had (and still have) lousy morning sickness, so I reckon at least people have been warned if I faint/vomit onto them!

Three people have offered me a seat since I've been wearing it - all of them women.

Thanks for this hun. Its amazing how people can be isnt it? Being pregnant has really opened my eyes x

ive a hute black badge with glitzy crystals all around the outside and 'morning sickness victim' on the front- its on my handbag and ive had loads & loads of people ask me where i got it!! its fab!!! and yes i would wear it-or at least have a custom one made with 'glitz' xx

I would definitely wear one, I live quite a way out so I always get a seat on the overground and luckily I can walk to my office once I get into London, so I haven't got one. If you travel on southeastern and bu a mthly/season ticket once you have your MATB1 you can take it into the ticket office and get free upgrade to 1st class, that way you'll usually always get a seat! There's a lady who gets my train who has one, she usually waits at the same spot I do in the morning and even though it's obvious I'm preggers, and further on than she is, she always tries to barge me out the way, so I wouldn't want to cross her on the tube!!!!!

Thats a great idea! OH got stroppy with me the other day in Primark as some lady barged me out the way so hard i fell into racking, then hit OH with her bag as she went through.
I went "F*cking hell, stupid cow thinks she owns the place, could have said sorry"
and she turned and gave me such a dirty look and looked so offended so I told her not to give me evils and to learn some manners.
He said he didn't like me saying stuff incase they hit me. Well, I'm 6ft tall and did karate and judo when I was a bit younger, I'm sure I can handle myself if they decide to hit me! But I just don't appreciate people throwing me about everywhere just cause she wanted to get to Choccers! =@

I've got one that I put on if the train looks crowded. Like you I get the overground in to London and it's a long old way to stand when you are suffering. I've even had to sit on the floor before. The trouble is I'm usually too embarrassed to wear one but like you I just want people to stop pushing me out the way. I've had people sticking their elbows in to my stomach just to get in-front of me.

The only problem is this still happens when I wear the badge. I think people are in their own little world and not looking at those around them. Unfortunately I think I would need to cover myself in badges for people to notice! I've pretty much given up now and just hope that I don't get pushed and that I get a seat.

Ditto. People don't look up - on the underground especially, so they've no chance of seeing your badge. I find people who do see the badge look straight at my tum next to assess the existence/extent of any bump, and then quickly look away again! :growlmad:

I think I’d be too embarrassed. Not sure why but just don’t like drawing attention to myself. When the time comes I actually have a proper bump, I’ll just move my hours so I’m not travelling at peak hours.

I guess they’re a good idea because often it’s hard to tell if someone’s pregnant or just a bit porky and I always work on the reasoning that it’s better to make a pregnant woman stand than make a fat woman cry!
