Baby on the front seat?!!?

Hello all,
Not sure if this is the right place or not to post, and a little long, but...

What are you thoughts on a baby car seat on the passenger seat?
I have a three door corsa and a bad back and just know that getting little one in and out of the back seat will be both painful and difficult for me. OH has a Scenic which I will drive when the weather is good as it an automatic and my journey to work would be safer in a manual as I have more control over the car in the snow and ice (country lanes and lots of hills)
So... if I disable the airbag in mine is it still going to be safe enough, do any of you have little one in the front? and I know back seat is still the safest but what do you do/ plan on doing?

As long as the airbag is deactivated, it's fine having baby in the front

Thanks, I have read so much and know the back seat is best but going to be impossible. Just need to work out how to turn the air bag off now
