Baby scolded by boiling water. Please help.

My mother has only spoken of how it wasn't her fault as they should have screwed the lid on properly. Absolutely ridiculous and I'm not thinking about her at the moment.

So no apology?!?!

Thank you for your replies, they really give me hope. Her nappy leaked urine from the night onto the top of her dressing which has meant about an inch is wet-its a tough place as right inside her groin but im on my way to get it re-dressed and checked at the burns unit.

My mother has only spoken of how it wasn't her fault as they should have screwed the lid on properly. Absolutely ridiculous and I'm not thinking about her at the moment. I'll keep you updated and thank you again for your help, it's really wanted and needed x

Your mum shouldn't be saying it's not her fault, she should be on her knees grovelling.

I hope the re-dressing goes ok, that new pic just looks awful. I don't want to imagine the pain.

Poor poor baby :nope:

When I was reading it I was imagining something small but my god! Poor little baby! I'm so sorry hun, I hope it heals quickly and she is feeling better :hugs:

Omg poor little thing
Can't even imagine how angry you are, so awful to have to go through this xx

Aw Hun your poor poor baba. Hope she gets better soon. I'm afraid similar happened to my dad as a baby (pot of tea though) and although it healed (no grafts required hopefully your little ones heals well too!) he has been left with a big scar. However he doesn't mind it, it's part of him now as it's been there so long, almost like a birthmark. My heart goes out to you it must've been terrifying. Try not to be too mad at your mum. Although it was a terrible error to make, accidents do happen, and that was what this was.. An accident. I'm sure she will never make such at terrible mistake again and I bet they feel awful xxx

Edit: just saw that I say she is trying to move the Blame elsewhere. It's prob just a "reaction". A lot of people try to place blame elsewhere when they feel guilty, she's prob in a degree of denial which is natural for many. I'm sure it will hit her at some point and she will apologise. In her heart she will
Most likely feel awful. She is just trying to protect herself.. And I'm betting she's worried u are mad at her-- and maybe she hopes that by trying to shift the blame you won't hold it against her. Who knows xxx

Well the biobrane was still on all over-no 'bubbling' which can mean it's not re-healing underneath but they said it's still early days and that normally shows after 2-3 days, it's been 1. So next appointment on Sunday will show more. There were white areas which they said shows deeper damage which was near the outside, just behind her knee. Nia herself is no different, an absolute joy and no sign of any pain.

Dolly, im hoping maybe treatment is different nowadays but thank you for being honest. I also can't help but think it's a bit easier for boys as they will have hair when older, scars are macho etc-over generalisation I know but I'm just thinking as a girl I suppose.

You're absolutely right A1983. My dad is in his 50s so the treatments now are far more advanced, and the things doctors can do now are just wonderful. I guess I was just trying to show on a positive note that if he healed then with no grafts then there's an even better Chance for your little girl.. Especially with the special dressings and treatments. Yes he does have a scar, but for him it's not the end of the world. I can see how for a girl it might be harder though. Got everything crossed for u that she heals up nicely, and that you and your mum can be at peace again with eachother :flower: xxx

oh my goodness.. poor little thing! so sorry this happened to your LO. once the burn has healed over, definitely invest in some medical-grade vitamin E cream, it will help reduce scarring. I had a bad burn when I was younger and the vitamin E really saved me from a nasty scar. keep us updated on how she does!

Im so sorry this happened. Hope she recovers fast and well.

I'll be buying the best creams out there! I've heard aloe vera plant is good too.

Dotty-is his scar contracted/wrinkled?

Your poor poor LO. Sending you both lots of hugs! I don't have much advice, but manuka honey umf 20+ is great for healing, burns and scar fading. also pure aloe vera gel is great for burns once her skin has healed enough to take anything topical. it's all natural stuff - I get mine from holland and barrett and its expensive but so worth it. you apply the honey topically too - there's lots of information online about it if you want to check it out. Sending hugs and best wishes for a speedy and full recovery. x

Yeh it is. But as I said back then They didn't have even half the treatments that we do now. Xxx

Ah poor lo and poor mummy.
Thats awful.
Something similar happened to my brother and my mum still hasn't gotten over it 30 years later.
She still feels so guilty that it happened on her watch.
It was extremely irresponsible of the family member to such a stupid thing.
Hope your lo gets better and heals well.
xx

Oh that picture makes me tear up! Poor baby! :( gosh I feel for you both. Big hugs xxx

I would not put any creams etc on until it has been OK'ed by the burns unit.

I'm not saying you are going to! It's just with all the suggestions about things to put on it. I'm sure they all help but with it being such a serious burn, I'd just go with the specialists for now.

This thread has made me feel physically sick. I have no idea how anyone can think this wasn't their fault :( I hope your littley is feelin better soon xx

Omg. No words. Poor baby. I can't believe how stupid people can be. I'm sorry u have a mom like that. If it were me I would never let her watch my baby again because clearly she has messed up judgement. As for her burn, I sure hope it heals and doesn't get infected, causing a whole other bunch of issues. Hoping the scaring is minimal. Hugs to your poor poor sweet baby xx
