Thinking of taking Max swimming in next couple of weeks, he's 10 weeks, what do I need?

I've seen splash about body suits on mamas and papas website and was wondering if they are really needed? They are made of scuba and keep babies body warm, although they are quite expensive around £25.

Do I need to buy waterproof nappies etc? I'm clueless!

I would get the all in one types but get second hand, there are loads on ebay and way cheaper!

Some have a built in nappy or something like this which is a nappy and a swimming costume

I think swim nappies are sooo expensive!

My LO has only been swimming once, I was lucky and borrowed a swim nappy and wet suit from his cousins.. he did wear a bright pink one with flowers though :dohh:
He looked nice and comfy in it, but still seemed a bit cold I took him out after 20mins, but I'm not sure the child pool I was in was the warmest. Anyway, I mean I'd probably buy one, but only if I swim with him much more! I'll prob check ebay!

Looked like this

I got disposable swim nappies from Boots, and a wetsuit-style swimming cossie. It's normal swimming costume material but with long arms and legs. The thing I've found most useful for baby swimming is a poncho towel!

In the swim class I go to you have to have a swim nappy and a neoprene over nappy (like the splash about ones) that way if your lo poos it's contained by the nappy. We've just been to centreparcs and we used the body warmer from splash about and lo was nice and warm, I was cold though!!!! Xx

Did u go for the wrap or all in one with arms and legs?

we use these https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TWF-BABY-TODDLER-WRAP-WETSUIT-swimsuit-children-tot-infant-warmer-swimming-pool-/271076571844?pt=UK_Sporting_Goods_Sports_Clothing_LE&var=&hash=item3f1d6c3ac4

Darragh has the turtle one and his little pal Lucas has the bee =D
They're really easy to get on and off, and his skin is always dry under it when I take it off, plus they're not expensive!

In my experience, just use a swimming nappy.

The material on swim shorts and t-shirts just make babies colder as they aren't as tight fitting as say a girls swim suit.

Logan used to hate swimming because he was cold, we decided to put him in just a nappy and he loved it.

We've only used swim nappies with Rory too.

Swimming shorts £2 from asda and some splash nappy waterproof nappy things for 35p from tesco :D job's a good un!

Our 14mth son old swims at least once a week every week (all year round), he wears the iplay boardshort with built-in swim nappy. He's been in the large size for around 5 months and they will last a good while longer. He loves them and loves swimming.

If you may not swim very often then it might be cheaper to just buy some disposable swim nappies.

I got the wrap, it was on offer so I paid £15 for it and it really worked! I'd used one that I borrowed before when we stayed in a villa in France, the pool was a bit chilly but my daughter was nice and warm in the wrap xx

This looks perfect, LO is only 9 weeks tho. Do you think the 0-6 month would swamp him?

hmm I'm not sure as we only started using them when Darragh was about 5 months old, however he went stright into the 6+ month one. At the very worst, your LO will grow into it pretty quick, I suppose

They look fab! So under these he would just wear a nappy? Was thinking about getting one of those happy nappy things from splash about as they aren't too expensive on eBay

i just pop a huggies swim nappy on him, i got a pack of them on offer in tesco and they have velcro sides so they're really easy to get on and off, which is such a help especially getting out of the pool when you're cold and trying to keep a squirmy baby warm and get him dry!!

We have this.. https://www.mothercare.com/Disney-Mickey-Mouse-Sunsafe/LY4646,default,pd.html

And use a disposable swim nappy :)
