Im kinda freaking out. I got my bloods results back and everything is great - apart from my urine test! It came back detecting bacteria! The doc said i need to re-do the test so they can be sure and then start treatment, as if i have bacteria in my urine it can effect the baby's development!!

I asked her if this is the same as a urine infection, she said no ....

I am really worried. Anyone else had this? I feel fine i don't feel like anything is wrong... i just feel pregnant.

I had bacteria in my urine too. My doctor said its a bladder infection and prescribed antibiotics. I was having bad uti symptoms though. Hope it's something simple! Good luck!

Happened to me last pregnancy...TMI alert....I had forgotten to use the wet wipe they give you before giving the sample and that's what they were picking up. I redid the test properly and it came back normal.

Agreed with previous poster--I'd look to the wet wipe and the "clean catch" method they ask you to use. I, for one, have a hard time giving a urine sample properly. Your doc is probably just being very cautious, which is a good quality in a doctor.

Yep, as the two previous posters mentioned the most common explanation for some bacteria turning up is that the sample came in contact with the bacteria that are naturally on the outside of your.. lady parts.

Usually if you have a UTI you will start experiencing symptoms that are hard to ignore... and even if a follow-up test does detect one your doc will cure with antibiotics.

The important thing is just not to let an infection go untreated as that could hurt the baby. But since you've got a doc looking into it, no need to worry :)

Yeah i forgot to use the lady wipe thing before hand so im hoping it was just that!

I gave more urine yesterday morning, and used the wipe so hopefully it will come back all good.

I, too, took the test this afternoon and got a call from the nurse. I had no idea the wet wipe was THAT important, lol. She is putting me on antibiotics for now, and if the culture comes back negative they will have me stop...I wouldn't be too worried since there's already so much to worry about anyway!
