we're with Lloyds and we had a £250 overdraft on our account due to bills going out earlier etc and we was doing okay then when i went on mat leave in September (due to stress, bleeding and sciatica) the money didn't go in on time and we paid the rent late...

Today OH was reading the online statement and then got a phone call off the bank saying the overdraft had been taken off us due to the lack of funds but all the money we do overspend on is becuase of bills and never ever on 'us' e.g going out etc only food shopping.

we're still trying to chance the rent from September. It's only £375 but it feels like a million pound at the moment. OH payed off the rest today and then hoped on the 2nd Nov the rent would go out on time but due to being paid on Friday off work/mat leave we only had £430 in the account left. So after the gas went out we wont have the money to cover the rent again.

OH has spoken to the Landlady who is understandable just 'Your Move' is the one who are nagging us to pay..

scared well not have the money for the house now and we'll be thrown out before Christmas and I'm due in 4 weeks...

any help?

We've tried to apply for loans but joint ones and OH credit is a little bad so going to apply tonight again just for a loan for me and see what happens. If that doesn't work i don't have a clye what we'll do...

need help.....

Have you talked to the bank, as if you can speak to a person they might be able to over-ride the computer taking away the OD. Also be careful in which/how many loans you apply for as each search a provider does on you will leave a mark on your credit rating.

Although not recommended a short term fix could be a 0% credit card which you only put the essentials on for one month to give yourselves some breathing space, then pay off that months spend slowly over the next 12?

Oh asked why and the bank said it's a pc over rule thing noone can do anything about it. Been like that since we applied for it. It's just an auto ruler thing and noone in person or top dog in the company can change it.
Loans.... Well OH said its pointless in applying due to not having the overdraft to covet the extra £100 a month we'd be paying back for it...

have you spoke to the job center are you sure you cant claim houseing benifit ect now tour on a lower wage. if your struggling that much you cant have that big a joint income? id apply for houseing benifit youve got nothing to loose if they say your not entitled to it. dont apply for loans or credit cards if you cant pay your rent youll never manage a loan. is there any bills you could reduce food shopping gas internet phone sky ect?

I wouldn't get any loans or credit cards - it will only spiral your money worries and problems out of control as you won't have the spare cash to pay it all back :hugs:

Are you able to go to your local Citizens Advice? If you pay your gas and electric by DD, it's maybe worth changing to paying quaterly, or asking for a meter to put in so you can control how much you are spending :hugs:

Hope you get it sorted

We went to our town hall last month to apply for housing benefit and council tax cut but the process lady said before looking into our application it's a no and until LO is here we wouldn't get Anything at all. So she gave us a fresh application form and said send it back as soon as LO arrives along with their BC. So that was a huge blow!!! Working tax credit we can't sort out till after new year due to the Christmas holidays etc and oh turns 25 on 23rd dec... So that will help I suppose. Then when I return to work etc more money but that means high childcare fees..
We've cut down a lot on food etc already. Changed bills where needed Sonora spread out more... Oh phoned our landlady left a message ask if shed want to go private and pay her weekly instead via your move! She's not got back to us yet! I'm going CA tomorrow and see what they say etc and then I don't know what well be doing.... We've both spoke to parents for advice and we couldnlast resort go back to either one but it's going to be a squeeze for three of us and a cat...
Thanks for the tips and I'll let you know what happens over the week x

Why did they say no for housing benefit?? My OH lost his job early last year, we were renting and i had no job(and we don't have a LO) but we had savings and money in the bank and were still entitled to housing benefit from the day he lost his job. Surely if you can't afford to pay all your rent you should be entitled to help. I would at least send the forms in again anyway, we've found with people at the council/jb they always tell you different things.... just in case.

id ring about houseing benifit again as if you cant afford to liove with rent that low surely you must not earn over the threshold. get you child tax credit and working tax in as soon as lo is born you dont have to wait for your oh to be 25 when you have a baby.

We were told something similar about not being entitled to housing benefit from soem jobsworth in the job center as well. He said we werent entitled to it as we were both working. And we definitly couldnt claim anything till after LO was born, even tho i had to come off on matty leave early at 32 weeks.

We were desperate later and tried again and got the form and were given housing benefit. They wouldnt back date it for us but we were told we could have been claiming it as soon as i came off on maternity leave before the baby was born as that was when my income was affected from. Try getting the form from the government website filling it in and handing it in anyway. The self important idiots in the office are not always the most helpful people.

Hope you find a solution
