We have 3 bathrooms, one is a kind of ocean-themed, with a sort of teal color on the walls, with photos of the ocean that the water looks the same shade as the paint. I picked the paint to match the photos. Accessories are white and stainless steel.
Our master bathroom is a light tan-brown color, with chocolate colored accessories.
the kids bathroom is fire-engine red with Disney cars accessories.
I would keep the color bright/light for a small bathroom to keep it open feeling. You don't want a dark color making it feel even smaller. Other color schemes I've used before that work well with small rooms: Light green/sage color with ivory (I had a bamboo pattern shower curtain, and sage green towels that matched it, with the wall painted same color), lavender/lilac with cream/white accessories.
