Bcp before IVF... Starting cycle day 5!

Hello please could I hear what other people's experiences have been with bcp before IVF.... What day were you told to begin taking it?
As far as i know it's day 1 or 3 of cycle?
I've just been placed on it cycle day 5, and I'm extremely concerned that by day 5 a dominant follicle could have already been chosen my my body and this may mess up my follies and the whole IVF cycle.
I'm on long protocol and have a provisional date of 1 March for egg collection.

Please please could I hear what you ladies have experienced. Or if you have heard of starting day 5 for bcp.

I was on long Lupron protocol and started bcp's I believe on day 5. Anywhere between day 5-7 is listed as standard.

Oh wow so glad it worked for you. Unfortunately it didn't work for me but luckily I had a u/s before starting the next step and we saw a dominant follicle and had to abandon.
