What a bunch of idiots!

I'm really unsure what to do ...

Explained I would like a referral to an infertility clinic CARE to be specific - GP: "Errrr"

They can't do that - Should they not have a list of infertility clinics? Private? Anyway she then mentioned my consultant - I don't think so why do you think I want to go private? Apparantly he is 'private' also Well OMG I wouldn't pay to be told 'not much more we can do'! Anyway seems there is another private consultant 'Mr Mennon' I've to ring tomorrow for an appointment & she will do my referral I have to pick it up just after Christmas! This all sounds too dodgy for my liking & the same hospital :?

We'll just have to see - Problem is we are not going to be here in Stoke-On-Trent next year & I wanted to go with CARE not return to Stoke-On-Trent :? Surely I'd be able to move my files & private care over if I move

That does sound really dodgy, im not sure what id to if i were in your shoes.
Im not sure i would chance going to that hospital again, esp out of your own pocket.
Do you have to have a referral to go private?

:? does sound a bit fishy to me aswell
offered same Doc and hospital hmmmm

Dunno what to advise here hun, maybe start in new year when all files are with a new GP

I'm going to self refer I know you can! I'm going to try get RachieH she fab with stuff like this :D

That's rubbish. If you can self-refer that'll be a lot better. I'd ring CARE and see what they say.

Sorry Wibble I am v. confused.

What is CARE? Where is CARE?

Who is Mr Mennon?

Can your GP not simply give you a letter to give to your private healthcare provider? Even if you have to pay for it?

Char its Rach......I just wondered if you had got any further with getting your private refferal?

I've been away since the 22nd Dec and just wondered where you were @ with this?

 Hiya

I didn't pick my letter up or ring for that appointment in the Stoke hospital there was just no way!

I did email some woman about who the egg sharing was aimed at with our history & got the following reply:

Hi Charlene
It sounds as though you might be ok to egg share. We do need a referral from your GP but all it needs to say is that you want to be considered for egg sharing. Initially we would need an blood test for your FSH done on day 2-5 of your period, again your GP should do this for you. If you send me your address we can send you an info pack. If you do have major problems with GP then get back to me.
Julie

So I may just do that. However me & OH had a few problems & were close to splitting - Its all been so much :( So openly TTC no although I know its what we both want so maybe in the near future plan B will get started.

Did you go a anywhere nice :p

Hiya

Awwww sorry to read you and OH have been having a few problemshttps://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a28/RachieH/Graphics/morehugs.gifhttps://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a28/RachieH/Graphics/morehugs.gifhttps://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a28/RachieH/Graphics/morehugs.gif I'm sure you will sort it all out though - I think its easy to overlook how much impact your losses have on your relationship. Paul and I went through our worst time in our relationship through my fertility problems and subsequent losses and IVF. Its not a time I reflect on fondly!

I'm pleased you are a bit further forwards on the referral front, even if you are putting things temporaily on hold. You will get there in the end! I will keep everything crossed for you anyway.
I managed to get a consultation without already having a GP referral letter, however I had to get one done prior to starting treatment. It was easy to get one at that point though as I went to my GP and said "I'm having IVF, I'm paying privately rather than waiting to be funded, but I need a referral letter from you" My GP was happy to write it as it meant £3000 wasn't coming off his budget for it as I wouldn't wait the 3 years on the waiting list.
If you fail to get your GP to write you a referral letter, you can always change doctors.

Will be looking out for updates on this - Fingers are crossed for you!

Oh I forgot to add this link...If you are seriously considering Egg Sharing, heres a useful link:-

Been one crazy crazy year! I didn't know how to deal with it then & I sure as hell don't know how to deal with it now but I do know I want to deal with it a little better - I looked at myself at the end of the year & didn't like me!

This Julie seems easier enough to approach if I have problems with my GP so I think when it's time I will contact her again quoting that email.

From what I've read up I think it's highly likely they will suggest IVF at one point so decided to look into the options if that should ever happen - One being egg donor. Tbh I wasn't that keen at first yet I thought why not help someone else in the same situation as me - Ok maybe not the same exactly but trying to reach the same goal.

Thanks for the link :hugs: x
