I had a pre-treatment scan on CD14 yesterday, prepping for IVF (NB. am not on any meds yet, this was just so drs knew what meds to put me on). They found about 6 follicles and 1 mature follicle / egg so he reckons I'll OV today or tomorrow. However, the follicle was only about 14mm and my womb lining was only 4-5mm thick which isn't brilliant. Combine this with a 12,5 FSH level this month, it's not fab. Good news is, it explains why I haven't been able to get pregnant and they now know to pump me full of drugs for our IVF round (which is gonna drive the cost up, yikes! No new shoes for me).

However, I left without asking: what actually is wrong with me? is there a name for it? So... anyone else have this? And how did you respond to IVF / did you get naturally pregnant?

Help appreciated. :-)

i don't know much about it but when I had my first medicated IUI cycle I responded poorly to the FSH meds dose I was on and my follicles barely grew. I asked the nurse why I needed a higher dose to get them to do anything and she said it could be because I was resistant to the FSH.

From what I can gather, this means that the ovaries are unable to utilise and take in the FSH that your pituatary gland produces and is in your system, hence you end up with higher levels of it left in your bloods, and so do not do their job properly. I don't know why they become resistant though!

It is strange for me as my bloods have never shown high levels of FSH although I haven't been tested for a while now. I will be on 125ius for my next IUI cycle so really hope that will be it for me, I will be doing 3 more cycles and then on to IVF otherwise.

Good luck, hopefully they will be able to give you enough meds to produce some good follcles and that you have a successful cycle!!
