Benefits britain

I hated the one in hull. We live in hull and work so it was frustrating to see our city being made out to be awful. The couple that were trying for a baby whilst on benefits :dohh:. I wanted to scream at the TV x

I have to admit, that did annoy me! They clearly had no intentions of working! Where do they find these people?! Lol x

I know, her dad wasn't much help though tbh! Why would people want to live like that?! Strange. And haha, yes all that time they spent doing exercises, they could have been out job hunting! x

The Dad did make me want to punch the TV. He had a beautifully clean home as he kept saying but none of that matters when you have Hitler tattooed on you...

:growlmad: He lives near me and my work colleague partner knows him as he is a regular at his work. Just gave hull such a bad name. I said to my fiancée that it made me want to get our boys out of the city. But then I thought if we instil a good work ethic and they do well with their education they will do well x

I am on benefits for my disability and have been since i was 16 and been on dla since i was a young child. Programs like this make everyone else look bad that claim. British money should be for british people. I think foreigners that come over here shouldnt be aloud to claim for at least 6 months. How do they even get over here that must need work permits or visas

No if they are coming from another country in Europe they don't need anything apart from a passport I think x

Free movement within the EU. Just like people can move out of the UK if they wish.

I don't know how it is in the UK with regards to EU nationals coming in and claiming benefits, but for me to come here and get things like health insurance, kindergeld etc I had to get a Freizügigkeitsbescheinigung (haha long word) and it proves I come from the EU. I'm pretty sure you would need something of a similar nature. This took me about 6 months to get so I don't think people can just come in and claim right off the bat. I had to provide so much documentation for it, some which was quite difficult to get. I also had to prove I had some sort of health insurance before coming here (which was difficult seeing as the NHS isn't really considered that and I was chucked from pillar to post between the health insurance here and the NHS with each one say I had to sort it out with the other one).

I'm pretty certain they make programs like this just to piss people off and it probably isn't even like that. I'm sure it's not so easy to just come in, go to the job centre and say "give money now".

Most of tonight's episode was a repeat to what they've shown in another benefit programe ?

This entire show is a (slight) remash of a previous Channel 5 show on Roma Gypsies. Literally 90% is the same footage.

Ahhh I was wondering why it looked like a repeat, but slightly different! Ha ha channel 5 you naughty people

Tonight's has been aswell but of a different programe. Defiantly seen it before :dohh:

Yeah, i turned off halfway through. The only thing that really enraged me was the "what do you want me to do work in Mcdonalds?" whats the shame in that?!

That annoyed me too! A job is a job x

I've never seen this show, and am not British but it seems that the way the system currently is can be abused from what I've heard.

There is a mom that I follow online (outside of BnB) she believes herself to be unable to work, so she collects benefits and lives in a council house. She conceived her son through a sperm donor and is now in the process of TTC another one. She's a single parent with limited resources and help as far as child raising goes. She's also planning to homeschool her children, which means she will probably never earn an income from working and doesn't plan to either.

I generally like this woman and love reading about her parenting endeavors - tbh she is a strong, intelligent person who I admire in a lot of ways. But it just seems strange to me that someone who is capable of raising children completely on their own (which anyone would agree is a tough job!) and then giving them a home education as well can't be capable of working.
