BFP and overweight?

Hello!! Well I shouldnt be here at all as i'm not even preggers yet.....trying to be though ha ha. Just wanted to say you have all made me feel loads better about being pregnant...when I get there. I'm trying to lose a bit of weight, but not going too well...i'm a bloody nightmare ha ha
I have been worrying about getting pregnant and doctors appointments etc its taking off the excitment of ttc. I'm generally 'healthy' for my size, no high bp or anything so at least i'm ok at the moment.
How long did you lovely ladies take to conceive?

Actually my husband and I were going to start trying in May and opps! It happend a little early! Im 5'10 and around 313:blush: but im sure im gaining weight. I was 330 when I got pregnant.

O a little advice im sure you know by now..
Lay down 20 min after doing the deed, cut out caffine and only have sex every other day to give the sperm some time.
Good luck!

Thank you! Congratulations!!
Good advise thanks, i'm trying to down/out caffine...I love my morning cuppa :) If we bd in the night I can lay down for a good 20-30 mins but sometimes we have to bd in the morning and its a bit of a rush...oh so romantic ha ha.
I would guess i'm prob not far off what you weigh, no idea what my bmi is, but jave you had a good pregnancy so far? Are the docs and midwives nice to you or do you get lectured? x

I’m having a good pregnancy so far. My blood pressure is better then when I wasn’t pregnant. My asthma is a touch worse but I have three doctors I see once a month so they are taking care of it. My first ultrasound they found a fibroid which is pushing the baby back a bit but shouldn’t be a problem. I was really afraid I would be in the hospital from morning sickness, but I’ve only had four spells of actually sickness and I’ve just been nauseous on and off.
We don’t really have midwives here but my OB didn’t say a word about my weight. The only think that was said to me was watch what you eat and try to get some walking in.
Where I go, it isn’t uncommon to be obese, so I think that makes it easier.
My regular doctor did tell me that we need to work on my weight but not till after the baby is born.
I was so scared I was going to get lectured and told how much of a bad person I am for getting pregnant with my weight but that wasn’t the case. I really feel that if the doctor cares about you they wouldn’t right off give you a lecture (maybe give you some help, but not tell you how many problems you’re going to have). Make sure you feel comfortable with the doctor or you are going to feel like crap.
Also taking prenatal pills while trying to conceive helps :happydance:
I wish you the best of luck and feel free to ask me any questions

I am wondering if anyone can help at all? I had my first midwife appt and she confirmed that my bmi is high at 33. I knew I had put on weight but I was a bit shocked at the scales. I have my 12wk scan on the 3rd May and I have been reading a lot about people not able to have scans due to being overweight - something about the picture not being accurate?

I know I shouldn't be focussing on one bad thing like this but I am so worried that I will not be able to see my baby fully. has anyone had any experience of this? Some people said I should demand an internal scan instead? Is this right/ practical?

I am trying to focus on the positive but I feel I should be prepared.

Hi tadpole! I've seen somewhere (can't remember where though! Could have been something NHS related) that if they can't see babe properly at the first scan they usually ask you back again. If the second time fails then they might not ask you back. One lady on here was embarrassed and said she had to hold her belly for the sonographer, but I think if they are good at their job that shouldn't have a problem. Yeah, there might be a few extra layers of cuddliness on us ladies, but it shouldn't mean they can't get a good picture. I've not had my 12 week scan yet, but I have had two internals (one at approx 5w and the other at 7w) and am about to have a private scan on Saturday. I'll let you know how I get on as I will be 9w4d then and I'm hoping it's a belly scan!!!

I have a higher BMI. I have had two scans so far. My first one was at 6 weeks 4 days and they did a vaginal scan. They do that with everyone because the baby is so small. This second one they did both. The ultrasound on the belly you could kinda see and you could see the heart beat. We did a vaginal one and saw a little baby! It was a few days ago! If I can i will put a picture up on here:) Don't worry about that stuff. I did at first too, but everything will be ok.
O I also heard the heart beat on the doppler! I read that it was hard enough at 10 weeks to hear let alone being obese!

Hiya...My BMI is 41....(OMG) and I had my 12 week scan last week and they were unable to get a decent shot of the baby( not helped by the fact it was hyper and wouldnt stay still) but I was so embarrased and they left me so sore afterwards cos of all the prodding and pusing down on my belly....I have a re scan next week so am hoping it goes better this time. :(

I'm 5'4 and weigh around 220 lbs. With my first pregnancy last year, they did a vaginal until the 12 week visit, I think. Then they were able to do a tummy one. Unfortunately they found something wrong with the baby and also had to do a vaginal to get a better look at him. But I don't think they would have had to do another vaginal if they hadn't seen something they needed to get an up-close look at. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to do a regular ultrasound either, but I think the ultrasounds are good enough now so that they can see through a few extra layers! :)

Here is the vaginal scan picture.

I'm overweight(a size 18-20 and only 5ft 2) and I am on my 2nd child, with this one I fell pregnant after a month of trying and am about 2 stone heavier than what I was when pregnant with my son! X

I'm the same size! A little taller, though, at 5ft4. I hate that I'm overweight and won't get to see the results of pregnancy as easily as a normal weight woman does, but I guess we can't do anything about it at this point. I'm trying to just eat healthy, too, to not gain any more weight than I have to. The problem I'm having right now though, is that I'm only 5w3d and I've gained almost 10 lbs in the last week!!! I'm guessing it must be water weight??? I'm not doing anything differently, so I don't know how in the world I would have gained so much in such a short time. With my first pregnancy I was so sick that I lost 13 lbs! I sure hope my weight will stabilize soon!

I was on a diet and fitness plan before I got pregant. Yesterday I went to the shop to look for different pants because my jeans hurt me a bit due to the fact that I'm bloated. Nothing fit me and I'm one size bigger in one week?!? I thought it could only be water as I'm still eating healthy although I'm not dieting anymore. At 4 weeks I wouldn't show and I can't pick up weight that fast so it must be something else. I packed away all my clothes that I know would'nt fit me soon as I will get majorly depressed

Hiya girls. I'm a big girl too, 5ft2'' with a bmi of 40, and in a UK size 18-20.
When I got pregnant in January I was refered to a consultant due to size, all my weight however is post pregnancy weight from my two boys, my waist is only a 38 which considering my weight is not bad at all.... it's just my spare tyre that's weighing me down!!!

hi girls im so dreading the midwifes worrying about it too much making me depressed i dont want to go my oh dont understand which dont help cause no one to talk to

Hi girls can I come and join you. I'm 28, 5.7", and a UK size 16. I've no idea what I weigh or what my BMI is but it's likely to be high.

I've spoken to OH to warn him that this might mean scary things like diebetes and pre eclamp etc but I'm sooooo worried about my first appointment with the MW. Will she shout at me and make me feel worse than I do already. I've got a bit of a doctor phobia so I'm worried if someone makes me feel really bad at my appointment it's going to make my doctor issues a lot worse.

EEEEEk
