BFP and overweight?

Hello!! Well I shouldnt be here at all as i'm not even preggers yet.....trying to be though ha ha. Just wanted to say you have all made me feel loads better about being pregnant...when I get there. I'm trying to lose a bit of weight, but not going too well...i'm a bloody nightmare ha ha
I have been worrying about getting pregnant and doctors appointments etc its taking off the excitment of ttc. I'm generally 'healthy' for my size, no high bp or anything so at least i'm ok at the moment.
How long did you lovely ladies take to conceive?

Took me 16 months, caught on my 2nd clomid cycle. I did lose three stone during this time and it helped not one bit. Still need to lose another three i think but now i can just focus on eating healthily rather than obsess about the scales

i am also over weight i have my first apt on the 20th of this month so we will see

Claire1 - I conceived 1st month after coming off the pill but m/c at nearly 7 weeks. 18 months later I am pregnant again but I think this is mainly to do with losing 21lbs recently as after tests last year we were told we only had a 1% chance of conceiving naturally. I lose weight and here we are! Its pretty much a miracle pregnancy considering I am also 41 and its my first. Very daunted at the minute and also do not want to pile weight on again as my bmi is still 32. Best of luck TTC and hope to see you here soon xx

Congratulations!
Think I need to knuckle down and try and shift a bit of weight. This is only my 3rd month of ttc, I have reg cycles and ovulate as far as i'm aware. My opk and clear blue fertility monitor pick it up, but will only know for sure I guess if went to docs.

:flower:

3.5 years, 2.5 rounds of IVF and finally here :wohoo:

Lost 3st before ttc & IVF but the drugs & m/c last year mean I'm back where I started... At least I'm preggers :winkwink:

Hi Ashley,

I wanted to let you know I never had a vbac but my sister did and she is about 5'4" and at the end of her pregnancy she weighed 300lbs and she had a vbac with a 10lb baby and all went well she had an epidural and pushed for 3hours but she got him out and wasn't too bad off afterwards gl and you may need to find a different dr or hospital to get the vbac that you want she had to go to a hospital and hour away even though we have 2 other hospitals within 20min of where we live

Took me 20 months. Irregular cycles after coming off the pill didn't help, along with a couple of other medical issues. Losing the weight helped my cycles and ovulation. Was on clomid but didn't take it the cycle I fell PG. The best thing to do is really try and get your weight down hun (ideally under BMI 30 for the docs in case you need any help, but that is after 1 year) and getting more healthy for your baby. I was looking at IVF and the only thing holding me back was my weight. I wish I had put more effort in earlier and I'd lost a bit more before becoming PG but I'm not complaining!!!
GL with your journey hun!

Midwife told me not to do it & consultant... So did pilates instructor. Apparently because your ligaments etc soften & stretch once hormones are released it's very easy to over stretch from the outward kicking movement can cause issues opening the pelvis & can cause pain and discomfort. Also it can cause your back to arch causing pain and discomfort in neck/shoulders.

I looked through my preggo book & it said the same ??

I've been encouraged to start preggo yoga & pilates earlier rather than later & advised for swimming to do front/back crawl, no butterfly & only breast stroke if I've a float between my knees and ankles??x

Eeeeeek! So many different people and books saying different things! I've read somewhere (have no idea where, but defo seen it) that pilates should be avoided during pregnancy but yoga is fine! Can't remember the reason why though mind - pregoo brain kicking into action! There are so many different recommendations that it gets very hard to know what is right and what is wrong I find. I'm going to go with what feels right for me and within the confines of what my midwife recommends.
Thanks for the advice though!

Took us by surprise this time, but we'd been NTNP/TTC for 13 months. (Missed m/c March 2010.)

Actually my husband and I were going to start trying in May and opps! It happend a little early! Im 5'10 and around 313:blush: but im sure im gaining weight. I was 330 when I got pregnant.

O a little advice im sure you know by now..
Lay down 20 min after doing the deed, cut out caffine and only have sex every other day to give the sperm some time.
Good luck!

Pilates is a lot of laying on your back with legs in the air, so maybe thats why they dont advise it while preg as when youre bigger the baby compresses arteries etc.

Spoke to yoga teacher and he said start preg yoga at 14+ weeks. 9 more weeks of doing nowt? No way.

I don't do regular pilates, it's pregnancy pilates so there's lots of movement to ensure you aren't on your back for protracted lengths of time & also the pelvic work is different. I've really noticed a difference in my posture & feel so much better after it. Plus the class is only 6 max... Tuesday it was just me! Bargain!

Sounds good, my gym doesnt do preg yoga/pilates, but a nearby spa does, £38 for 4 classes. Might do that every so often and get a DVD as well.

Have my drs appt tmw, Im sure he'll tell me to just wait and see the midwife in three weeks but I have questions! Cant wait 3 weeks not knowing if I should be taking omega 3's etc.

Based on this weeks patterns my energy has totally changed. Im usually rly slow to start in the morning and ok in the afternoon. Atm I wake up raring to go and by 2pm Im asleep. 6.30am swims have been lovely so gonna try and carry on with them. Suns just coming up and theres big windows so the water looks all wibbly :)

Spoke to my diabetic nurse today at the GPs as a few of my blood sugars have been slightly high. She said it was just hormones and as long as its not consistantly high Im ok. Might have to go onto insulin at a later date which would be laaaame. Just eating as healthily as I can right now.

Oooh wobbly water sounds lush! I've been starting work at 7 as it means finishing at 3 which is good timing! My energy was rubbish from 5-10 weeks & I slept at 8 every night but now I'm good... 11pm! So rock n roll!

My GP was useless so hope yours is better! He literally registered me & I was in & out in 2 mins! MW was good tho! All I got told to take was a good pregnancy multi vit with folic acid, eat a balance diet & that was about it!

Yoga price is good... My gym didn't do it either so cancelled my membership & found a yoga place & Pilates place for £10 a session. It's not cheap at £20 a week but I'm saving a fortune now I've stopped my daily Starbucks!!

I found that by 12 weeks my symptoms had virtually gone which helped my eating/energy levels

Good advise thanks, i'm trying to down/out caffine...I love my morning cuppa :) If we bd in the night I can lay down for a good 20-30 mins but sometimes we have to bd in the morning and its a bit of a rush...oh so romantic ha ha.
I would guess i'm prob not far off what you weigh, no idea what my bmi is, but jave you had a good pregnancy so far? Are the docs and midwives nice to you or do you get lectured? x
